There are a few select moments in broadcast TV when the production content highlights a very distinct reality and simultaneously informs the viewership on the absurd construct of political dynamics. Last night Sean Hannity did just that.
Former Texas Governor Rick Perry has been blasting 2016 GOP candidate Donald Trump over Trumps remarks about illegal alien criminals. Perrys criticism has aided the liberal medias efforts to isolate, ridicule and marginalize Trump.
However, using Rick Perrys own Texas border reality, and showing the criminal statistics inherent from Perrys own team, Hannity shows how Donald Trump is right, and Perry is just playing politics. It was one of the best constructed segments Hannity has ever broadcast.
The segment begins at 03:35 and runs through 08:12. The most substantial moment comes at 05:35. Watch:
Texas Alone: (2008 through 2014) 642,000+ criminal convictions; 8,000+ sexual assaults; all from illegal alien criminals. Game, Set, Match Donald Trump was right!

I watched this interview. Perry lied from the get go about what Trump said.
It took Perry months to send his Guard to the border,
while he was sticking his finger in the wind.
I wish Hannity would have called him out on it.
I used to listen to Hannity years ago. I finally became convinced he’s just another RINO enabler. His money, his LI mansion and lifestyle juxtaposed against the pap he sometimes espouses just doesn’t jibe for me. He forgot his southern experience long ago.
I used to kind of like Perry.
And sorry Rick, the glasses aren’t going to make people think you’re smart.
It would be much more profitable for Perry, Bush, Fiorina and others to stop bashing Cruz and Trump and instead focus more on Hillary. There are so many scandals and misdeeds by Hillary and public needs to be aware of them. By bashing Trump on immigration, they will overall lose votes. Perhaps they have another agenda that means more to them than gaining votes.
Perry is being exposed for what he REALLY is, just ANOTHER Bushie “Mini-Me”. He has EARNED the title “La Raza Rick”.
I finally became convinced hes just another RINO enabler. His money, his LI mansion and lifestyle juxtaposed against the pap he sometimes espouses just doesnt jibe for me.
What was wrong with this segment?? He brought up the illegals’ crime statistics that no one else in the media has shown. He showed how Perry was lying through his teeth when he said that Trump said ALL Mexicans are ...
Hannity was doing his job and your complaint makes no sense.
Perry works for The Cheap Labor Express.
He’s just another cheap labor importer.
Not going to happen. The GOP is a wholey owned subsidiary of the mexican CofC.
“LaRaza” rick perry is a prime example of a personal rule of mine: never, ever trust a texas politician, no matter their message or political affiliatiion, and never turn your back to them.
Good.
Did you watch the video segment of Hannity and Perry that I posted?
No. From what I’ve garnered about him from listening to him for years in the past, I really don’t think what he does now is relevant. He just doesn’t matter to me anymore... he’s just a rich yankee who once had to live and work in the South.
Too bad, it’s worth watching.
I’m not saying what you posted as a link isn’t bad. I’m just saying that Hannity has nothing to offer me as a conservative anymore. Because he does or doesn’t sometimes appear a little conservative isn’t the question. I’ve heard and seen enough of him. I’ve measured him, and I’ve weighed him, and he’s come up wanting.
That is the way it is with some people. Ann Coulter comes out with a great expose on immigration - forget her, she backed Romney. Pat Buchanan writes a great article/warning about our declining culture - forget him, he is an anti-semite. Trump champions America, forget him, he is egotistical (and I don’t like his hair). I heard Hannity praise and defend Southerners last week. I think his wife is a Southerner. Let’s all get back to the RINOs we know and love.
I hear you and I understand, but the interesting part about the video isn’t Hannity at all. It’s Rick Perry. In a way it reminded me of his “oops” moment in the 2012 debate. Perry just isn’t cutting it. his day has passed.
At the end of the day, you can find Perry’s picture in the dictionary next to the definition for “Aggie joke.” This is merely another episode proving the point again.
Hannity is no liberal and he’s done lots of good work on and off air. Calling him a RINO is not accurate. I don’t care that he’s rich— he’s worked his tail off for it and he’s a very generous guy. Go blast on a real RINO but Hannity ain’t one.
So I’m guessing you blocked out the times when he said “my good friend” when introducing the likes of McCain, or Lieberman or others.
Hannity is not a liberal, definitely, but he is no conservative either. Believe what you want to, I know better - I heard better and he isn’t it.
I watched the interview also and I was embarrassed for Perry. Even confronted with Trump’s exact words Perry still insisted Trump was insulting Mexicans. Frankly I doubt Perry had even read what Trump said before he came out with his remarks criticizing Trump.
Perry is done.
