The only thing I might wonder about that ‘manic depressive’ person you mentioned is whether the pot CAUSED it

In small qualities it is very good for you. In large quantities (like anything else) it is VERY BAD for you and makes you so hyper paranoid you can barely function.

I know from first hand experience.

I quite 20 years ago, but I lived through the good and the bad.

If you drink too much alcohol you become an alcohol and there are symptoms associated with that.

If you smoke too much pot you become a ‘potaholic’ and there are symptoms for that. Severe depression and paranoia are two of them.

In small doses, alcohol has some good effects on the body- some VERY good effects and maybe this is why God had his son tell us “do this in memory of me”

In small doses of pot it cure seasickness, calms you, elevates your mood and makes you more creative, stops hair loss (seriously) and many other effects besides the ‘feel good’ ones.

Everything in moderation.

The author of this article needs a lesson in that- his smarmy comments are way over the top. It’s nothing but “you stupids, see how stupid you are? pot sucks and you’re stupid for thinking it doesn’t- will fully stupid, I can’t believe how stupid you are and that settles it”

whether the pot CAUSED it

In this case, no. This particular person had been dropped on his head as a child - seriously - at like 6 years old, he fell out of the back of a moving vehicle, and suffered a pretty severe crack on the back of the skull that his parents never had treated. Just recently, the docs said that his skull, at 32 odd years of age, is spreading where it cracked when he was younger, and a small portion of the brain is being squeezed.

He would have episodes where he would be stone cold sober, and start suffering severe panic. In his words, everyone was out to get him, and nothing he did personally could change the thoughts in his head. Every single time I witnessed these episodes over a 7 year period, it always ended the same: It would get so severe, and he would get so worked up, that he would have a seizure. Interestingly enough, after the seizure, it was like a reset button had been pushed, and he would be better for a few days until the next episode.

However, if he smoked DURING the episode, within 5 minutes the episode would disappear, and he would be smiling and normal again. And the seizure, which happened every time he had an episode, would never come. He knows full well how much it helps him, and that if he smokes, he'll balance out, but in the depths of the episodes, he always refused to smoke and had to be convinced to do it. Likewise with the medications he was on prior to the pot. The difference between pot and the Rx's the docs had him on? The Rx's would put him out 16-18 hours a day, and the time he was awake, he was like a zombie. Pot never did that to him. It balanced him out, and he would be just fine after smoking. It actually allowed him a more normal life than the Rx's did.

The most fascinating part about it is that my own wife was always completely and entirely opposed to pot, no matter the circumstances. Then she watched him, multiple times, in the depths of an episode, and she could see the physical and mental change it made when he smoked.

I don't know if synthetic cannabinoids would have had the same effect, or eating it, as we never did try it. I do know that smoking it most certainly did help him, and it helped immensely. After a while, he was comfortable telling his MD's that he was smoking, and they encouraged it.

If you drink too much alcohol you become an alcohol(ic)....

Dubious reasoning. I know an alcoholic that drank very little. He just can't handle alcohol. So he doesn't drink.
