I was thinking Mrs. Cruz took leave to help her husband campaign AND to avoid any appearance of impropriety and undue influence.
I imagine she did.
But Goldman has a policy is swapping partners in and out of government positions. The net effect of having a partner as First Lady would, obviously, be huge.
Possibly this is the first glimpse we are seeing of it, even though he’s not nearly the nominee at this point.

Sabbatical... an extended period of leave. She is going right back to Goldman as soon as possible. Whatever she and he do while she is gone accumulates to their benefit when she returns. There is no way out of this for them. They have a conflict of interest. It is unavoidable.
Sorry, I liked a lot about Cruz but now I can’t vote for him. Not because he or she or they are successful but because they can be counted on to act in their own best interest. It is inevitable.
