House Democrat Rep. Carolyn Maloney (N.Y.) has introduced a bill that would require gun owners to carry liability insurance.

The Firearm Risk Protection Act, unveiled Friday, would require gun buyers to have liability insurance coverage before being allowed to purchase a weapon, and would impose a fine of $10,000 if an owner is found not to have it. Service members and law enforcement officers, however, would be exempt from the requirement.

“We require insurance to own a car, but no such requirement exists for guns,
The results are clear, car fatalities have declined by 25 percent in the last decade,
but gun fatalities continue to rise.”

Simply playing very loose with definitions and logic. Fatal Gun accident rates have been reduced by 94% over the last 80 years, without requiring insurance. Insurance does not cover intentional acts.

Fatal car accident rates, with insurance, have not been reduced nearly as much.

Interesting way for Zero and 0bamunists to have the insurance industry gather info on locations of firearms around the neighborhood...

Sounds like an infringement, to me.

There are no repercussions for purposely breaking Constitutional law, and
there needs to be. I can understand the challenge in the name of law, but the
Constitution is there as our foundation. Start by enforcing Treason.

How is that any different from a poll tax being imposed on the right to vote?

“Service members and law enforcement officers, however, would be exempt from the requirement.”

You know I think if we started treating everybody as equals we just might have less problems.

I knew politicians wouldn’t be able to resist using their new power to tax you for not doing what they say for long.

This lady is playing to her liberal base and grandstanding that she is hard on gun rights.

The problem with liberals in this country is that they want to convert our capitalist, free enterprise system into some Marxist socialist system. In order to reach that objective, they have to severely limit the people's free speech rights, make their religious freedoms obsolete and get rid of their guns. They would be better off starting their own country from scratch and leaving this one alone because we have too many basic rights that can't be messed with under the constitution. Or move to Venezuela and just experience first hand what it's like living in a socialist hellhole. Besides, we'd all be better off, if the liberals took a hike and left us freedom-loving conservatives alone.

This democRAT legislators's bill will go nowhere seeing as it's unconstitutional on the face of it.

ok, let’s go down that rabbithole...

homosexuals have a high incidence of AIDS. AIDS kills. therefore all homosexuals MUST have liability insurance before engaging in buggery.

hip hop (rap) music is the music of choice of gang bangers. gang bangers murder lots of people. therefore anyone wanting to purchase/listen to hip hop (rap) music MUST have liability insurance.

in the name of atheism/secular humanism/islam, untold millions of people have been murdered. therefore atheists/secular humanists/muslims MUST have liability insurance.

etc.

when you make a tenuous argument like that moron in NY, it’s not too hard to extend it ad absurdum.

Still no answer to the question...
How does requiring liability car insurance equate to fewer car fatalities?

Kind of like the ‘uninsured motorist’ TAX.
‘They’ inform US that if we don’t have auto insurance they will put you in jail etc YET force us to buy ‘UNINSURED MOTORIST INSURANCE’ basically because we buy insurance for our vehicles.
Like an eresponse to a newspaper article when the opiner called for the confiscation of ALL private owned guns because of potential danger....I pointed out that at 75 and being a long time concealed carrier (’legal’ and ‘illegal’) I have never fired or even drawn on another person. SO, using your logic if you lop off my tallywacker, it would help decrease rape etc. Maybe a true statement but it still doesn’t address the crux of the problem.
Notice last week some hack proposed make pot ‘legal’ for PTSD patients....Could this be another step in disarming the vets?

Can’t trust any of these clowns, and as someone once said—in reference to a seemingly crazy piece of legislature— Remember those that really WANT it will get out and express their opinion while we stay ‘home’ and say this crap will never pass........
