This is the second time in two days I’ve seen the word “ableism”. What the heck is that?

I've looked up the definition of cissexism several times and still don't get it. Its post-modern leftist slogan soup.

That's okay. One of our employees sent out a flyer for "LBGTIQ Pride Day" last week and I had to ask him what the heck the "IQ" meant. I wish I hadn't asked.

Being "cis-gender" means that your perceived gender and the biological sex you were born with are the same. I.e., you are what we used to call "normal".

Cissexism is the unacceptable belief that being normal is a good thing.

Here’s what Wiki says:

“Cissexism (or cissexual assumption) is the appeal to norms that enforce the gender binary and gender essentialism, resulting in the oppression of gender variant, non-binary, and trans identities.”

I was curious about the etymology; and Wiki also had this:

“Cisgender has its origin in the Latin-derived prefix cis-, meaning “on this side of”, which is an antonym for the Latin-derived prefix trans-, meaning “across from” or “on the other side of”. This usage can be seen in the cis–trans distinction in chemistry, the cis–trans or complementation test in genetics, in Ciscaucasia (from the Russian perspective) and in the ancient Roman term Cisalpine Gaul (i.e., “Gaul on this side of the Alps”). In the case of gender, cis- is used to refer to the alignment of gender identity with assigned sex.”

(Gobbledygook with a stab at intellectual pretension...)

I’m with you on that one, but I might mention that in genetics cis means that two genes are on the same chromosome.
So does that make cissexism sex with your sister?

I looked it up, too. what I glean from what I read is cissexism is equated with being straight, and the equivalent of white privilege that comes with behaving in a lifestyle consistent with your anatomy. Is this making any sense?

Huh?

"Cis-" is a Latin prefix that is the opposite of "trans-." Simply put (in case someone hasn't already tried to define this), a "cisgender" or "cissexual" person feels himself or herself to be whatever sex their body says they are.

So "cissexism" is the assumption that cissexuality is the norm, resulting in discrimination against all the other letters in the LGBTQRSTWXYZ alphabet soup.

You're quite right: it is postmodern label-making. It indirectly normalizes all the deviant sexuality by making sure the normal people get a stupid label, too. If someone uses cis-anything around me, I generally assume they've bought into all manner of gender nonsense and that I likely won't get five words out without offending them.
