(Reuters) - A Maryland mother was found early on Friday pushing her dead 3-year-old boy on a park swing, authorities said.
Deputies responded to a call around 7 a.m. to check on a woman who witnesses said had been pushing a child for hours on a swing at Wills Memorial Park in La Plata, about 35 miles (55 km) south of Washington, D.C., said Charles County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson.

me too its beyond sad
I hope she pushed the kid high enough to go to heaven
How so? There wasn't enough at the link to give a clue as to what has really happened.
Could be schizophrenic. Sad story.
One thing is for sure, this 3 year old is with the Lord Jesus now... not sure about the mom yet. Time will tell.
Lets see. We know the child passed away. We know no signs of trauma. We know that no matter the causing of the passing the mother totally snapped. That was enough for me. Not sure what you’re looking for in order to qualify for sad.
Patients with catatonia may experience an extreme loss of motor skill or even constant hyperactive motor activity. Catatonic patients will sometimes hold rigid poses for hours and will ignore any external stimuli. Patients with catatonic excitement can suffer from exhaustion if not treated. Patients may also show stereotyped, repetitive movements.
maybe one or the other.
Can you give ANY explanation that doesn’t evoke great sadness on some level?
Yes, it appears so. So sorry to hear about this.
It’s sad no matter what.
Lumpy throat.
.... ping....
How awful. Maybe the mother was not in her right mind and was trying to revive him.
An elderly woman in our neighborhood thought she was walking her dog but when I felt the dog it was dead. She had put its leash on and was dragging it down our street. She said it just needed some fresh air.
Terrible, I’m glad some one called the cops, I’m glad it was brought to a peaceful, if dreadfully sad conclusion. I hope this woman didn’t harm her child.
I’m just going to move on to the next story. This is more than I can comprehend on a Friday afternoon.
How horrible.
More likely a dissociative reaction of some type - couldn’t stand the grief of the loss of her child and split it off to avoid it, continued on as though child’s death hadn’t happened....
The child’s death sent her over the edge.
Very, very sad.
Oh, good God...
Me too... just damn...
That is my thinking.
