Poor little rich Rep. Florida Democrat Representative Alcee L Hastings
Out in the real world, pay increases are usually tied to performance. Do a better job, grab a better position, and make more money. It makes a lot of sense.
Unfortunately, Congress is not part of the real world. When you live off the largesse of the American taxpayer, the sky is the limit. No matter how terrible a job you do, you can always demand more.
Enter Florida Democrat Representative Alcee L Hastings. Hes terribly concerned that the paltry $174,000.00 we currently pay our average congressmen is so low that Morale may suffer. Hastings complains that high rent has forced him to move to a comfortable but not nearly AS comfortable apartment, and he worries that members of Congress make will be unable to send their kids to college.

But he voted every chance he got to cut military pay and benefits...
Alcee L. Hastings doesn’t deserve a pay increase, a decrease perhaps.
You can almost smell revolution in the air.
a convicted felon BTW
Life was so much easier when he could take bribes . . .
I want to throw up when I see crap like this. When are people going to get the torches and pitchforks out?
I’d like to fit these sumbitches for blindfolds and cigarettes. Last words? Adios, mofo.
Guess he spent all that bribe money he took when he was a judge.
BTW, here’s a little tidbit. Hastings ranks #1 in the House for putting family members and friends on the payroll. His girlfriend alone earned more than $600,000 in salary between 2007-2010, according to Judicial Watch.
As for Hastings being poor - that is apparently true. Wikipedia has him at nearly $5 million in debt. I guess nearly 200 grand a year wouldn’t look like much when you’re spending like an Obama budget.
Aw, come on. They’re barely making ends meet. I feel so bad for them that they should all be forcefully let go to find higher paying jobs.
Alcee Hastings...the clean, never has done anything wrong is his life, representative. /sarc
What does it say about the district he represents, that voted him in after Debbie Wasserman Shultz? Ugh. Double ugh.
Are you speaking of the former impeached, convicted, and fired Democrat Federal Judge Hastings? The one convicted for taking bribes on the bench? I thought so. Imoeachments are resume builders for Democrats.
When I am not satisfied with my pay, I tend to start looking for another job that pays better. Why stay if the pay isn’t enough to live on? Guess that idea is way beyond the atmospheric levels of the minds in D.C.
How about this for the Article 5 Convention.
Amendment:
All US Representatives and Senators shall receive compensation from the State that they represent, in an amount to be determined by that State. All expenses incurred by any State delegation to Congress shall be borne by the State that they represent.
It's getting harder and harder making money on the side selling graft, corruption and access so his wallet's a bit thin these days.
The impeached and convicted Federal judge Alcee Hastings? Why, yes, it’s the same guy! Who knew?!?
“I want to throw up when I see crap like this. When are people going to get the torches and pitchforks out?”
That is so 18th century. We may be beyond such niceties now.
If there were really justice in this country, he would be working in a prison job for a few cents an hour.
Yes, this isn’t just any Representative, this is the Hon. Alcee Hastings speaking...the conscience of the House of Representatives, a cross between the Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Francis of Assisi, Mahatma Gandhi, and Cato the Younger. No wonder he is poor as a church mouse.
If someone who makes $174 K a year can’t make ends meet....they have some serious issues....like stupidly...
Impeached judge Hastings is probably one of the most corrupt congress critters feeding at the taxpayer teat....
