The threat of a limited surgical naval or air force bombing of critical nuclear installations—with no ground troops - would not amount to a war, would deter the Ayatollahs, possibly moderating their nature, and—if activated - would permanently cripple their pursuit of nuclear capabilities, and could be repeated if necessary from US military bases in Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the Indian Ocean or from US aircraft carriers.

That is the most idiotic thing I've heard in a long time. Did the bombing of Pearl Harbor not amount to a war?

Israelis did it back in the 80s sometime I think, for just that purpose - destroy their capability. Was there a war?

The Israelis have more patience than me. I’d nuke their seat of government completely. What war? It’s not a war if they can’t declare it back.

It most certainly did not! It was simply a naval-air kinetic action of limited scope and duration with no boots on the ground to which FDR COMPLETELY overreacted. Just ask Hillary.
