I was replaced by younger foreigner software engineers who were willing to work for less.

It took over a year and a half but I found a job that paid 1/3 as much and that I liked 3 times as much.

Sometimes I really wish I could chuck it all and just be a developer (my true love).

But 35 years of experience in IT in many roles, including Director of Operations, pretty much ensures I can only do development I assign myself (which I always do) as part of the project.

And that development is the only time on the project I truly enjoy myself.
