What the heck is a “disputed competition”? Does that mean some of the cartoonists will compete and some won’t? Or will there be some who will simply day “Don’t call it a competition. I dispute that. This is not a competition.”

The facility was owned by the Garland school district. Several weeks ago, there was a rally by thousands of local Muslims there “for prophet Mohammed”.

Pamella Geller organized a “draw Mohammed” art contest at the facility, with a $10,000 prize to the winner. The school district didn’t want the event, but it was decided per equal time that yes, it had to be allowed.

To prevent a Charlie Hebdo event, there was a lot of security there. Hence the two dead Muslim attackers and one injured police officer.
