Bill Kristol writes in this week's newsletter:
About 7,500 votes were cast in The Weekly Standard's third presidential poll of the year, twice as many as in the poll a couple of months ago. In that straw poll (and, to repeat, these are obviously not scientific surveys, but rather polls of those who chose to participate), Scott Walker, was far ahead, with almost half the first place votes. He still leads, but has come back to the field some. He's got 30% of the first place ballots, and appears on an impressive 69% of all ballots as a first, second or third choice. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have surged to second and third place, with 24% and 18% first place choices respectively; Rubio appears on 51% of ballots, Cruz on 45%. These are the big three on this week's survey: No one else gets more than 5% of first place votes, or appears on more than 18% of ballots overall.
So: We have (for now!) a three-way race among TWS voters, with Walker holding a modest lead over Cruz and Rubio, and everyone else far behind. The second tier is mostly unchanged, except that Ben Carson has faded, and Carly Fiorina has surged, especially as a second or third choice. (Come see her in conversation at the Broadmoor next month-- a few slots are still left!)
I’m all in with Cruz! period.
I like it when I dont even see Bush’s name mentioned in these kind of articles :)
Ditto that!!!
Rubio is “Bush-the-younger”.
Walker is “Rubio-lite”.
Cruz is the ONLY true Constitutional Conservative...and gets the “big picture”.
I didn’t even notice that until you brought it up.
bump
I didn’t think Weekly Standard readers would leave Jeb Bush in the ground like that. lol.

Who?
;'}
WAlker leads in Weekly Standard straw poll.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wiscosnin interest ping list.
Cool, cool.
It’s heartening to not see Rubio or the Jebster *spits on the ground in disgust* at the top.
Cruz is top of my list. I still like many of the others but at this time we need more than ever a brave candidate who will not shrink from the great cultural and political debates. We can not afford a candidate that will simply aim to coexist in a left wing dominated world.
Exactly!!! I don’t do polls but give my support with my pocketbook....so far Cruz 100%$$!!
There are so many polls one could not keep up with them so we don’t poll until say September 2016.
Prayers for Ted Cruz’s walk and run!!!
Another way to view this is that the top two conservative candidates account for over 50% of the poll.
We’ll see where Cruz is after the debates, I can’t see how Rubio or Walker are going to out debate him.
It’s pretty remarkable the way Cruz has moved the polls, up into the top tier. We all knew how first rate he is, but more and more are finding out because this is very good news. Staying static very long is not helpful.
The polls are way early, but this is a fun one.
Right when Bush announces that he has raised more money in one week than any candidate in history. Bless his heart.
Money is important, that’s why I’m a Cruz bundler, but character and reliability are much more important.
I cannot contemplate any currently possible or probable candidate, either Republican or Democrat, that could touch him in a debate, even with 10 Candy Crowleys moderating, can you?
Yes, of course. But, at this point money is all Jeb can chalk up.
Frankly, I have started to wonder if money and polls aren’t in collusion. Cruz has kept his head down raising serious money and not yet making a lot of personal appearances. He is not getting great press, but he is rising in the polls anyway, with little exposure, but right along with collections.
Just wondering.
Cruz or Lose!
