Yeah, but what about global warming, we're Doomed...
I’ve never liked that fact that cops have authority of any kind over me, but, I always considered it good citizenship to be respectful and not make their jobs harder.
As an elderly white woman, I also keep my hands on the wheel during a traffic stop. If you make life easier for others, it makes you feel good.
Nope. That is the posture of a felony stop, and the cop will instantly go into high alert.
Hands on top of steering wheel, dome light on if at night. That’s sufficient.
That sounds like something Marshall McLuhan said. "The message is the median." Or is it, "The median is the message." Whatever.
I gave up on Snopes long ago. I don’t even remember what the issue was, but I questioned them about a topic involving Al Sharpton and the fact that he was “ordained” by a DC preacher at age 10. What I got from Snopes was a scathing email telling me I was a racist for saying such things. I wrote back and pointed out that, regardless of what they thought of me, why didn’t they tell the truth about Sharpton. They wrote back and more-or-less said to “go f... yourself.” Methinks they are not the unbiased people they pretend to be.
Sadly, this airhead probably votes.
Amen! The way I see it is this guy is pointing out that the cops can be white, or they can be black, and still out of control.
The victim can be white, or black, and still get shot and killed for no reason.
The victim can be wrong and deserve to get shot. The cop can be right and kill someone in self defense.
This is all about EVERYONE being held accountable for their actions!
I’m a middle aged white woman and I’ve only been pulled over three times, and I’m polite, and respectful, and have gotten a warning rather than a ticket, or gotten waved on, but God help us all, I never thought about keeping my hands on the wheel in plain sight.
Citizens aren’t supposed to be required to kowtow to the police. The safety and dignity of a police officer are not more important than my own.
“one time he was going through the state of MA and he had his gun on him... ...long story short he got pulled over, cop found out about it and he went to jail for 2 days..”
Is that SOP in MA? If you have your gun on, you go to jail????
My first vehicle was a ‘64 Bel-Air. I paid $175 for it in ‘76 when I was 16. I drove the he!! out of it.
what what what? This fella didn’t jump out of the car, punch the officer in the face, reach for the officer’s gun and then make a run for it, then turn around and aggressively charge the policeman only screaming he was going to kill the officer, only to get shot, and then the whole community didn’t come out and riot loot burn and murder people?? What’s the matter with him? I thought that was standard procedure these days? How rude of him to simply comply politely and respectfully!
Army guardsman. Didn’t know that. Just increases my respect for the young man.
“Same with Wikpedia and Google”
I use Wiki often, but never for anything that might have a political slant. But Google? Never! It’s a spy agency. I use Ixquick, no cookies, no tracking your IP;
https://www.ixquick.com
See that attitude? It comes from you, not the cop.
I put my hands on the wheel to make the cop feel safe - it is my pleasure to do so.
Don mean nuffin, we knows the man is out to shoot us......
Yup.
Exactly what I have always done and I'm melanin challenged.
Once after telling the Lieutenant that there was a firearm in the vehicle, he responded,
""Ok, just don't shoot me with it"". He must've laughed all day from my facial expression.
