We just pummeled by hail, the worst I've ever seen. I am about 25 miles east of Raleigh. Anyone else experience this? Heavy rain, lots of lightening and lots of hail. Scared the bejeesus out of us.
YEP—I have a photo of our gutter (which had been filled w/big hail) just swinging too and fro.
Whoa.... Awesome!! #severe #ItsAmazingOutThere RT @ChadK3Dad: @JimCantore storm to the east of Lubbock, TX. pic.twitter.com/oyQjpoLmxE
We had pea sized hail last week.
Sorry for your loss.
Just got rid of the last of this winter’s four feet of snow here in soviet Red Hampshire, but we’re not done. Thirty degrees and snow about as hard as it can right now. Temps back in the 60’s by Friday will make short work of it. Better snow than hail, though...
Jake from State Farm
East Tennessee had hail like that a few years ago. The car insurance companies set up temporary drive-thru facilities where you could have your car inspected and start your claim with an adjustor. They were packed for weeks. You still see cars in that area with hammered looking sheet metal.
I had a RAV4 that was totaled by the insurance company for hail damage, paid me $4,200 and let me keep the car. Within a year almost all of the dents had popped out. What few were left could only be seen if you really looked hard for them and they could not be seen in photos. For some reason the insurance company never noted in the records that it had been totaled. I kept the car another ten years and recently sold it for $3,700.
See that red spot? That’s me.
Heck no. ;)
A neighbor with crappy coverage was offered $600.
Go figure.
Just be glad you don’t live in Denver.
“Havent checked the car yet. But it was out there.”
I’m looking for feedback on the new all aluminum body Ford F-150. I’ll be replacing my 2008 Silverado about the end of this year. So, hoping to see some side by side hail storm comparisons between Ford and Chevy by then.
Looks like Bailey on 264 is about to get some heavy ‘something’...
It’s missing me. We’re seeing the lightening though
Like a good neighbor....State Farm is there.
Joking aside.....glad you’re OK.
Our coverage was excellent as well (Liberty Mutual). Roof, roof boards, soffit, fascia, gutters, downspouts, and entire house resided (was aluminum and north side of house actually had siding not only dent but “pop” at seams).
We only had to pay deductible and had NO raise in rate.
I’m close to Baily and the sky is still lighting up. I hope it misses me.
Lucky. I dealt with hail in the Dakotas and East Tennessee...the racket of it hitting my house in TN was horrific...never forget it.
Radar shows the worst of it just coming into Bailey...anywhere from Middlesex to Bailey is where the action will be...
Once we determined the direction the hail fell more damage was apparent. We pointed out damage to neighbors’ property that they weren’t aware of. They had put their trust in their insurance company’s inspector.
We only hired reputable local contractors for repairs. Since my damage exceeded $50k the deductible was waved.
