Bowe Bergdahl "caused a lot of suffering among members of the military" after he walked away from his post in Afghanistan in 2009 and he may skate on charges of desertion and misbehavior because he still has defenders in the White House, says a former CIA station chief.
"We're going to have to wait for a legal outcome here on this case, but the administration has a lot vested in this," Gary Berntsen, who led the CIA hunt in Tora Bora for Osama bin Laden, said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"The administration made the mistake a terrible national security error of trading five hardened terrorists for a young man that has now been charged with deserting and acting poorly in front of the enemy essentially a worse charge than desertion," said Berntsen.
"I would not be surprised if the White House doesn't look for some political way here to intervene there are things that can be done, unfortunately," said Berntsen, senior national security adviser for Concerned Veterans for America....

Oh, I'm sure some of The Obama Army will think it's just
[[Ex-CIA Officer: White House Could Pardon Bowe Bergdahl]]
Hell, he’ll be the next secretary of defense under this admin
If aka obama make a mistake by trading five hardened terrorists for that treasonous cowardly deserter Bergdahl, the mistake was not that he let the moslem terrorists free (for that was his primary goal all along). No, his mistake was that he didn’t pick a more sympathetic foil than Bergdahl (although that may have been a deliberate poke in the eye of the military as well).
Aka obama is a domestic enemy and he did not accidentally hurt the interests of the USA — it was very much done on purpose. I will be very surprised if he does not pardon Bergdahl.
go ahead ... WE’LL find him ....
Knowing Obama he might give him the Medal of Freedom.
So obvious.
You know... I almost hope he is stupid enough to do it. I can’t think of a single thing that he could do that would infuriate Middle class, middle aged, middle America more. That would be a virtual death-knell for the Democrats.
Obama was looking for a “ra-ra” photo op. The Welcome Bergdahl Home rally had already been prepared (coincidently timed to coincide with their “we still hold out hope” rally) and then got shuttered when the public heard the rumors that he was a deserter and Obama had the muslim at the White House celebrating his return.
And yes, his first goal was releasing the Al Qaeda officers. He wants to close Gitmo (and get rid of them).
We need to have Congress ask WHAT did Obama know and WHEN did he know it.
Could?
Try will, just to flip off the families of those who died while looking for that POS.
Bowe Bergdahl, The new Ambassador to Iran appointed by the Obama Administration State Department. He’ll even get his own dot dahl server for comms with the Chumeys.
At least the Clintons have a different way of taking care of loose ends. Kinda makes me miss the 90’s.
Yeah, i hear you.
Pathetic state of things that we end up missing that era of dealkngs...but at least we knew where most of our side stood and knew the score.
These days...?
Yeesh.
I rather expect that 0bama will be pardoning Hundreds, thousands, if not tens of thousands of various criminals and traitors before he departs
If Obama pardons Bergdahl, they better assign him several secret service agents if they expect him to remain alive. IMHO there would be many out there who don’t think highly of traitors.
let Obama take at least one step within his constitutional powers.
Like Gerald Ford pardoning Nixon was to his dishonor and weak Carter being able to beat him. It hurt the president’s party.
And I’m all for hurting the Dems any which way.
If he is convicted of desertion, does he get to keep his rank and back pay?
