According to Lisa Wade, a professor at Occidental College in Los Angeles, if you have an understandings of Economics, you are likely a bad person.
That was her finding in an article she published this week, titled "ARE ECONOMICS MAJORS ANTI-SOCIAL?" The first word in the piece was simply, "Yep."
Dr. Wade writes that if you have taken classes on Economics, you "are less likely to share, less generous to the needy, and more likely to cheat, lie, and steal."
She largely bases her belief on a study from 2010. In the study, students were asked if they would like to contribute money to a liberal political group or a group that is pushing for lower tuition, possibly by asking for more subsidies from taxpayers.
Students with an understanding of economics were less inclined to donate to these groups than students with other majors. And for that reason, Dr. Wade has declared that they are anti-social.
...Further, she says that Econ majors need to take balancing classes, ones that present a different kind of economics.

Beware - this is the next line of liberal attack. When there are ads on my sports station I flip over to the only other non-music station which is NPR. They did a long piece on a study supposedly done which boiled down to if you drove an expensive car you were a bad person because you didn’t stop to help passersby or you tried to run down people in the crosswalk.
I really think that this rich = “bad person” line of attack is truly coming. Well, yeah, ok, it’s already here but I guess I mean intensifying.
This isn't an attack on rich people. It's an attack on anyone rich or poor who understands economics. This is an attack on truth and knowledge and is extremely dangerous.
It’s more or less the same thing. It’s anyone standing in the way of the glorious march to communism.
Great video.
Most Doctors are simply “Practicing” medicine.
The same with most Economists.
Further, she says that Econ majors need to take "balancing" classes, ones that present "a different kind of economics."Y'know, like "social justice" instead of "justice".
You mean, “Socialist Justice.”
They built the modern world.
Who do you think built it, Engineers or something /s
Dr. Sowell would no doubt disagree ...
Most of her fat is actually between her ears.
Just one more member of the PhD (pile it higher and deeper) crowd. I have a BA in Economics and an MBA in Finance. So, I guess that makes me doubly bad. I will match my behavior against this idiot any day of the week.
“STANDARDS OF EVIDENCE: The point of this blog is not to prove that sociological insights actually describe the social world (i.e., prove that they are true), but to illustrate those sociological insights that are shown or posited to be true elsewhere in academia. This is by design.”
Someone else said this is true, so I'm going to publish it without questioning its validity. This is intentional.
She should not talk with her mouth full.
I'd duct-tape it first, of course.
It’s an effort to re-mold human nature to the whims of authority.
Authority comes from both the top and the bottom.
Authority from the top is easier to deal with since there are rules.
Authority from the bottom is another issue all together. It’s intimidation through “peer-pressure” that uses political correctness and is finding more and more support from the top.
It’s the propaganda from the MSM and the silence/help from the top that emboldens then to keep pushing their agenda. They have all the tools they need to shut down their opposition. The more we complain the more radical we seem and the more isolated we become.
If 0bama had only one or two controversies, conservatives may be seen as rational. But because he has dozens of controversies, we are seen as crazy.
I have put that video on as part of my presentation on trading markets to an audience of 50 plus adults.
A very diverse audience.
They start out being very into it, with the rap thing. Then, I watched them get really uncomfortable.
You forgot Reagans favorite President, Coolidge.
If you understand that you need to make stuff to have stuff, you’re probably a conservative. If you think money magically creates stuff, you’re probably a liberal.
