On the March 20 episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, NBC Sportscaster Bob Costas laughed off criticism of his many pro-gun control comments and added to them by asking if people really believe the Founding Fathers wanted private citizens to purchase cop-killer, armor-piercing bullets and an AK-47″?
Maher opened the door for Costas to do so by citing topics Costas has spoken on gay, guns, head injuries and suggesting Costas has to talk about these things because not other sportscaster or broadcaster is doing it.
The focus then turned to Costas April 2014 suggestion that athletes cant be trusted with guns, a rant in which Costas lamented our gun culture and the sorry incidents that happen because athletes own guns.
In reiterating these points to Maher, Costas pointed to NFL defensive end Greg Hardy, who just got signed with the Cowboys but sat out most of last year because he was involved in a domestic violence case, which is prevalent in the NFL, and dominated the news last season. The only link Costas could make between the domestic violence case and firearms was that Hardy threw his girlfriend on a couch with loaded shotguns and assault weapons on [it].
Costas was so absorbed in criticizing guns that he failed to note that guns werent used in the acts he was attributing to Hardy. Rather, the violence his girlfriend faced was allegedly committed with Hardys own hands.....

Yes but the founders didn’t expect a Detroit or Ferguson type of populous.
He had pink eye as part of his pink-o soul. Another overpaid load-head.
Actually Mr. Costa’s.....yes they did.
2nd Amendment says simply “arms”, doesn’t limit what they are or do.
If such bullets existed at the time, they would have been termed “Red Coat-Killers” and they would have been recommended and even provided to get the job done....
He should learn some history. People could, and did buy artillery, automatic weapons etc. through the early 20th Century with no restrictions. We still can now but need a license.
Many of them do.
And the 1st Amendment does not apply to email or Twitter either because the Founding Fathers could not have envisioned the internet
Yeah - but the last one is too high maintenance for me, plus it’s one and done...too pricey for my budget.
Did they want us buying fully automatic printing presses? What about technology that allows a small number of people to broadcast propaganda to millions?
Dear Bob,
What happened at Lexington and Concord? What were the British trying to accomplish when the first shots of the Revolutionary war were fired?
Mostly true. Larger towns often had a full time constable, and citizens served mandatory shifts as watchmen under the constable. But as time went on people often shirked doing their shifts, and problems in cities grew as cities got larger. By 1749 Philadelphia set up a system of Wardens, who could hire full time watchmen. The new watchmen were paid a salary paid by a tax. That was the first urban police force in America, though it wasn’t called a police force yet.
