Our college seniority list works in this order (top to bottom):
Professor
Associate Professor
Assistant Professor
Instructor (lowest level tenure track full time position)
Lecturer (year to year contract)
Adjunct (part time, paid by the course)

Adjunct is a fill-in position when a regular is on sabbatical or when special expertise is needed for a course and nobody in the department can or will teach. We hire lawyers to teach our Business Law course each year. They are paid $3,500 per course.

When it comes time to hire a new, entry level faculty member, the adjuncts often apply and do have a leg up on those we don’t know (assuming they were good as adjuncts). New hires generally enter the list at the Assistant Professor level and are required to apply for tenured status after six years.

From the student view, adjuncts are substitute teachers, learning how to teach. From the full timer’s view it’s, “What’s his name again?”

Administration has recently created a few new designations similar to Lecturer that are not in the tenure track and are on short term contracts, some renewable and some not. Those positions generally pay half to two thirds of the going tenure track positions and are renewed at the pleasure of administrators.

There are a few other designations including Clinical and Research faculty that May or may not follow the tenure track.

Seriously, is that all you’ve got? From that whole resume, that’s all you could cull out? I doubt if Jesus Christ Himself could meet up to your expectations!

Adjunct Professor means the part-timer hired to teach a course that the full-timers don’t want to teach. It is not a prestigious position. It may sound important, but it is not.

Heck I am an adjunct at out local community college.

I teach an AutoCAD drawing class and an AutoCAD Architecture class. Not a big deal. The day time instructor doesn't want to do the night classes so I do it and pick up a couple of extra bucks every year.

The school has about 50-60 adjuncts. It is a lot cheaper for them to hire us and not pay us the benefits that we are already getting from our regular employer.

“Cruz, as much as you love him, fails on both fronts.”

Wondering if you think he, his team and his campaign are just ‘ignoring’ something you find so obvious,,or are they hoping to lie about it?

Do you believe that with all that brain power they have not given this issue one thought?

Seriously.

Ours is a very small Community College, so it is different here. All of us adjuncts either work in the field or teach in the field we adjunct in. The students know that we know our stuff since we are already members of the community, and the the full timers are glad not to have to teach the extra class at night.

I don’t think we disagree about the adjunct professor designation, but I don’t think it hurts Cruz to have been one.

Having been a college professor may even help him resonate with younger voters.

Ted Cruz is a conservative Christian who will not allow his principals to be compromised. May his destiny be as our next president.

So despite your attempts, I don’t feel a bit bad about loving what Ted Cruz has to say and hating his attempts at presidency.

I don't give a fat rat's ass how you "feel" good or bad about anything.

Just prove that Ted Cruz is not a natural born citizen by using the original vehicle that says, "natural born citizen" the Constitution.

Since you have admitted that you can't prove it, please, state that it is JUST your OPINION of his right to be President.

“...He’s not a “natural born citizen”...”

As we have learned with 0bama, the definition of “Natural Born” held by the founding fathers is no longer relevant. The only relevancy today is US Code and/or court precedent.

So, unless you can point to the relevant SCOTUS ruling that clearly defines NBC in such a way to exclude Cruz; unless you can point to the relevant US Code text that clearly defines NBC in such a way to exclude Cruz; then with McCain’s & Obama’s candidacy precedents all citizens born to at least one US citizen, even if the parent was a minor at the time of birth, are eligible.

You can argue this until you are blue in the face, but without that SCOTUS ruling or US Code, your argument has no merit at the present time *AND* even for the sake of argument if it *did* have merit, there appears to be no one in any appropriate position of authority who is willing to do anything about it.

All that being said, Cruz would make a GREAT president compared to the dung-heap/train-wreck currently staining the formerly honorable office of POTUS. It would appear that is not an uncommon sentiment either. He will be a formidable candidate and I’ll vote for him over any dem candidate and sleep like a baby afterward with no regrets.

No. In fact, I have a 1998 Toyota Camry and a few other possessions as well! </sarcasm>

I’m not belittling Ted Cruz for having been an adjunct. I’m just pointing out that the position isn’t much of a resume booster for him OR Obama. His weak point is a lack of executive experience.

His resume says that he is a very good lawyer. It doesn’t speak to his leadership abilities. That’s why I can’t make up my mind between Ted and three or four others. Walker is strong on leadership and weak in other areas. Kasich lacks charisma. Rubio seems to me to be a light weight. Ben Carson seems politically naive. Most of the others are RINOS.

That puts Ted in my Current top two but not as the prohibitive favorite.

We should all hit the tweets calling him stupid with tweets of his resume.

Cruz will be toast soon if we don’t get out in front of this. The guy on the radio here is basically calling Cruz a crazy idiot. This is what people are learning today about this “unknown” guy (to the low info voters, you know, MOST of the country).

ITS THAT IMPRESSION THAT WILL STICK WITH THEM.

If Cruz chooses NOT to focus on this today it is at his peril. It was as easy as a skit on SNL to finish Sarah Palin off. They will put less effort and be more successful with Cruz. His voice is worse than hers.

PLEASE, TED CRUZ, PLEASE GIVE YOURSELF A CHANCE AGAINST THE PRESS. it’s easy. Finish them off by talking about them today. “Now you all watch: the mocking has started. I predict to you that the liberal media will....” Who cares what he says after that, JUST SAY IT.

Mentioning this technique will deflate it. All Cruz has to do is to reAlinsky the mockers. Mock THEM. Call them bullies. Whatever.

“...There are plenty of things left unexplained by the Constitution...”

And here we get to where your argument has no merit and is merely your opinion. And regardless of whether I agree with your opinion or not, unless you can point to the relevant SCOTUS or US Code that defines “Natural Born Citizen” in such a manner as to exclude Cruz, all you have is a layperson’s opinion which has no bearing on deciding Cruz’s eligibility.

And opinions vary. *Dramatically*. Especially the opinion of those who validate “who” gets to be on the official ballot.

I’ll be honest and say that I prefer the definition of NBC commonly held during the time of the founding fathers and english law. However, as to presidential eligibility, *clearly* neither of those hold any sway today. If you want to change it, you’ll probably have to resort to amending the Constitution to add your desired definition in order to remove the current commonly held, perfectly legal and widely accepted wiggle-room.

Cruz will be toast soon if we don’t get out in front of this.

I understand the worry, but do not misunderestimate Cruz. He will have many opportunities to disabuse the media of their belief that they can make a punching bag out of him and his positions.

The MSM in never going to love us. That is a given. Wasting time on them today might not be the best use of his time.

I am more interested in him exposing the Rino wing to the general public - Karl Rove in particular. How about shaming Fox into cutting HIM off?

I have nothing agains “Adjunct Professor”. After all, the most important credential our current President has on his resume is “Adjunct Professor”. Or was that just a Legal Lecturer? That’s right, he didn’t have to administrate tests, homework or grades. He just talked.

Verga, no offense intended. I just cringed at the thought when I saw it. Especially in light of it being a minor point in an otherwise long list of creds. Somebody should put Cruz’s resume up next to Obamas. It would also be nice to put their College transcripts next to each other. But, alas, Obama’s are lost forever.
