Seattle is full of liberals and they hold all the political power. The same can be said of almost every other major metropolitan area in the county. The liberals are clustered in urban areas, on college campii, and on Indian Reservations.
Political control of any particular state is a function of the size and density of the metropolitan areas compared with population density in rural areas and small towns. Washington State is controlled by the liberals.
This is sort of my perception/take, tho outside of the airport, I have spent no time there. Not sure if you lived there or have relatives there as your profile is Midwest. Seems Seattle has a reputation like Chicago, and Washington like Illinois. However in spite of the liberal description of Chicago, the Chicagoland suburb where she was raised—tho all of my children have commented how they wish they were back in the hometown suburban bubble...it was pleasant and safe growing up here and the kids got a good education going thru the school system even tho the state and City of Chicago are about as far from conservative as one can get.
