I think men don’t marry anymore because besides the onerous legal burden placed on them if the wife so much as loses interest in being married, they view those commercials as what every day for the rest of their lives will be like if they get married (kids loving mom while despising dad, mom disparaging dad in front of the kids, etc.).
Pretty much true. You can look at the newest round of TV series offerings to see every diverse group in the world - all of them completely sane, rational, intelligent, loving, caring and kind - except for the idiot white male buffoon.
After you get married and find yourself standing in a department store in the women’s section holding your wife’s purse you pretty much know what you’re in for.
Given the usual "Dopey White Dad" commercials, they stuck out like a sore thumb. Which is likely why the advertisers did them.
Hopefully, it's a theme that will catch on. And, please note that I don't work for Toyota, or own stock in them. The commercial just caught my attention.

It seems that in most advertising if there’s a man and a woman, the man is the dolt. If there’s a white person and a black person, the white person is the dolt. If there’s an adult and a kid, the adult is the dolt. Pitiful what political correctness and done to America.
Wow it sounds like these ungrateful wives are NOT marriage material! How sad for them!
I don't know about you, C.E., but I saw three pretty good commercials in the Super Bowl which celebrated good, old-fashioned, honest fatherhood. I felt grateful.
There's a problem with that, most notably that I shouldn't have to feel grateful, but there you have it. Maybe someone has finally seen that men are tired of being seen as do-nothing incompetents on television.

You nailed it. Not to mention the racial aspect of the commercials where the black guy is always depicted as the college intellectual......while the advertising world can’t find white guys for their commercials with beautiful white women.
Two words: “Modern Family”
Even the gay fathers are idiots in that show. Every male in it is a buffoon.
