The CPUSA and the DemocRat party are one and the same.
And it has been ever thus since the Communists were taken off the “subversives” list after the demolition of the House Committee for Un-American Activities, and the total character assassination of Senator Joe McCarthy. JFK (a good personal friend of Joe McCarthy) was probably the last Democrat Present elected that did not owe more than half his support to those who found no objection to including Communism in the national dialogue.
The Communist influence in the Democrat (and Progressive) party goes back to the days of FDR and the New Deal.
