Carson has made some really non-conservative statements

Conservatives need to wake up and quit jumping on the feelgoodism bandwagons. INVESTIGATE THE GUY/GAL BEFORE JUMPING ON THE BANDWAGON.

In 2008, it was Thompson who was the darling. Few bothered to look beyond him TV persona. It took me 3 minutes to find that he not only supported McCain's Campaign Finance Reform, but he also helped write it as chair of the committee -- it was intially called Thompson-McCain-Feingold.

Carson may have overcome, but he his a 'radical' history. Investigate that! Is he a conservative or another pseudo-conservative?

Cruz, West, Perry, Pence, Bachmann, Jindall, more or less in that order, are candidates I will support. I think all of them offer a clear alternative to Democrats and the Republican left, the others, not so much.

As much as I like some of what Carson and West have to say, they aren’t ready to be president. They should run for lower office. I like Cruz but I think its too early for him. I used to like Jindal but he’s kind of sputtered out a little. He will have to prove himself again to me. So from this list, my top two are Walker and Perry at this point.

I would like to see the conservatives do this wisely. First, if 10 conservatives run, then we have lost. They will split the vote and we will get another Milquetoast Mitt or Manchurian McCain.

Here is my preference.

* If you never ran for office even statewide before. Please sit down, you are not going to win a National election. This includes all congressmen.

* If you are a Senator or Governor and lost a re-election after you achieved that title, please sit down, you have proven that you can be beat in your back-yard, what makes you think you can carry any of 50 states that don’t know you as well.

* If you have not endured the blast furnace that is the national spotlight trying to discredit you, please sit down. Those that have and are still standing ... the left has exhausted a lot of ammo on and wont have much to attack except for old tired diatribes. Newbies will get a very complete colonoscopy by the press, and we cant afford someone to fail after the fact.

* Finally, if there are already 3 conservatives that are running, please sit down. As said, crowding the field wont take votes from Jeb or Christie or Mitt, it will just ensure their victory.

I am hoping Sarah gets in early and keeps the other conservatives on the bench.

Ben Carson will quickly fall by the wayside, as did Steve Forbes and Herman Cain. You simply cannot go from the private sector to the presidency; you have to first pay your dues and get elected to a lower office. I also can't foresee Allen West, Michelle Bachmann, or any other current of former representative as a serious candidate.

As for the governors, Bobby Jindal is out, as far as I am concerned. I will not forget his refusal to speak out when his fundraiser Allee Bautsch was viciously attacked and severely injured by left-wing thugs in 2010. I don't trust Mike Huckabee, who gives conservatives the rhetoric and liberals the action, or Rick Perry, whose background as an Al Gore Democrat occasionally shows up in his policies. And Sarah Palin, having quit in the middle of her term, strikes me as a lightweight. Scott Walker would be my only choice of this bunch.

As to the Senators, Ted Cruz is the only choice for me. Being both principled and articulate, he is far and away the best choice for 2016.

I have said for a long time that they have been threatened. They are allowed to make little noises and put on acts but don’t dare cross the line.

I would like to see the conservatives do this wisely.

Not voting R to begin with would be a great step in the right direction towards doing this wisely.

I see a President, and a bit of HIS cabinet in that list of names.

Not voting R, if the R is conservative, just because you don’t like the R’s is an absolute guaranteed way to lose.

A conservative running as an independent is also a guaranteed way to lose.

How about you agree to support a conservative candidate, regardless of what party (if any) they are affiliated with?

Heck, if a conservative made it as the Dem nominee and the R’s were putting up a closet liberal, I would have no problem voting Donkey. Now, we all know that is not going to happen, but the point is, support the candidate.

Agree to all you said. Seems to me Perry is weak on immigration being a high illegal immigration state.

We can easily cut the list in half. West and Bachmann are certainly not running. Dr. Carson is not qualified. Rubio is an open borders advocate. Perry is often an enemy of conservatives, who he claims are “heartless.”

He is correct to place Ted Cruz in the Number One spot. His leadership stands out above all others.

Ted Cruz, easily #1. Everyone tried to hype up Newt last time because of how he performed in debates. I say this as a warning to the RINOs that decide to stick in long enough to have to debate Cruz, they’ll “wish” they were debating Newt! Cruz is that good. He is calm, cool, collected, and has the same tact and charm reminiscent of a Reagan to just take over the debate. It’s Ted Cruz’s performance in these debates that I think will push him to the nomination.

Scott Walker is #2 and could be the ultimate compromise candidate. But if Cruz performs as well as I think he can in the debates, then Walker won’t be necessary.

Now as for Marco Rubio, yes 4 years ago I wrote this:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2720568/posts

And I did get a response from his office when I wrote him. He’s been hurt immensly by the amnesty plan, but if people were looking at giving Newt a pass the last time to stop Romney, I won’t say his chances are 0%. But it will take a cycle-through like there was in 2008 of candidates bowing out to get him to the top.
