The Republicans won the 2014 midterms in a landslide. They have the most House seats since World War Two and they won the Senate. Were two weeks into the new term and the Republicans are already losing to Obama and the Democrats. What is the Republican agenda? Rather than having bills up and ready to go, the Republicans have dithered. Rather than taking the fight to the Democrats in the Senate, McConnell is balking at the Houses effort to defund executive amnesty. Keystone XL should have been a simple bill to pass onto the President, it still hasnt happened. What the Republican agenda looks like for the next week, month or six months is anyones guess. Leadership hasnt laid out what their plans are for the year. Given the opportunity to show the country they can govern, the Republicans have promptly failed.
Meanwhile Obama has a very clear agenda. He started late last year with his executive amnesty action and his attempt to normalize relations with Cuba. Since the Republicans took over Congress last week, the President has outlined three new entitlement programs or laws. He has proposed funding two years of free community college that will cost at a minimum $60 billion. Hes proposing Federalization of broadband internet, taking power away from the states. Today the President is proposing a law which would require employers to pay employees for medical leave. One can only imagine what sort of entitlement programs the President will offer at his State of the Union speech on Tuesday night. If the last week and a half is any indication, hell be offering an ambitious agenda of big government programs.
While the President is playing offense, the Republicans have no idea what theyre doing. The House and Senate arent on the same page and as such theyre making it easy for the President to control the media narrative. Obama has little to no chance of getting most of his agenda through Congress, in fact progressive Democrats have to be wondering where this Obama has been for the last four years. Nevertheless, Obama has regained control of the media narrative. He appears to have regained control over his presidency. How long this lasts is anyones guess. The Presidents grand jobs bill fizzled quickly in 2011 despite a successful campaign style roll out. Obama has a tendency to give up quickly and move onto other issues. He also hates Republicans, so perhaps his hatred will fuel his desire to push an agenda.
By not having any agenda whatsoever Congress is hurting the chances of the Republican nominee in 2016. If Republicans cannot govern in Congress, why would anyone expect a Republican could govern from the White House? Beyond that, what do Republicans stand for anymore? The House and Senate cant seem to decide and if they cannot or will not be unified behind an agenda why would the public back Republicans in the next election? It appears that the Republicans are simply against Obama and if they arent against him theyre in favor of keeping their individual positions and power within Congress. Obama is gone in two years, hes a lame duck. His agenda roll out the last two weeks is only a short term agenda for him personally. It will have long term consequences though because his clear and concise agenda stands in stark contract to the muddled and competing agendas in the Republican Congress. To say nothing of the competing philosophies of the Republican Presidential candidates, which will be on fully display in the relatively near future. Obama is managing to control the narrative in the 4th quarter of his Presidency. Thankfully he wasted the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
The Republicans have an agenda.
1. Keep RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE going for Romney.
2. Give.Obama.(more)Power. = GOP
3. Keep themselves EXEMPT above all others.
[They should be removed and indicted for making
money on ObamaCARE while THEY ARE EXEMPT.]
4. Keep the coverups of the IRS and Benghazi
going to protect McCain and Issa.
The Democrats and the media could not defeat the Tea Party in 2010. but Boehner did, singlehandedly. The Democrats and the media could not defeat Republican voters in the 2014 landslide, but the Republican party has stepped in to accomplish just that.
You think too highly of the American electorate. At least 50% of the voters in this country are brain dead. Those of us who care are part of a quiet minority who cannot drown out the shouting down from the loudest progressives among the flock.
Most voters, Hell, most people in this country don't understand how our government works. They think that the president is the ruler and has all the power. I only need to point to midterm election cycles to prove that to you. The presidential election has become nothing more than a national popularity contest for the person who promises the most stuff. Politicians have honed the art of persuasion and fabrication to an art form not seen since the days of Aristotle and Plato.
With most American voters paying more attention to the ads on TV than the histories of the candidates, people in this country, more than ever, are mindlessly voting for the most evidently popular candidate on a ballot.
I wouldn’t say he wasted those 2nd and 3rd ones entirely: approximately 1/3rd of all federal judges are Obama appointees. He’ll be haunting us in the form of horrible court rulings for decades.
That said, I do think the GOP needs to step-up their game for the next two years. The party’s been acting like it lost two months ago, when in reality Obama got his ass handed to him.
Obama could propose killing all puppies tomorrow, and the RINO’s would say... we will not hold hostage the security of the United States to oppose the presidents proposed abuse of puppies!
Insert ANY horrible thing you can imagine, and the answer from the RINO’s is the same. THEY WONT STAND UP TO OBAMA!
So basically that means Obama will now get 100% of whatever he wants!
I guess next week Obama will demand federal funding of post birth abortions! And the Republicans will just meekly go along! because THEY don't want to hold the security of the US hostage!
UM! ITS OBAMA YOU DIPS SHITS THAT IS HOLDING US ALL HOSTAGE!!!!!!!!
ARG!!!!!!!!!
Yup.
If things continue on their present trajectory, not 1 in 10 of us is going to be dragging ourselves off the couch to go and vote for them next year.

Time for a new two-party system; the the Republicans and Democrats are the same.
Correct...
They are the Uniparty.
One wing is slightly more moderate than the other wing.
The Republicans are suffering from “Fractured Leadersip”. That is, there are so many so-called “leaders”, that the party is getting dizzy from chasing their own tail. Does the party follow Bush (III)?, Boner?, McConnel?, Paul?, Christie?, and on, and on, and on. The “ARMY” is not being led by any “General”, but by a bunch of “Lt. Colonels”. Consequently, nothing meaningful is getting accomplished as opposed to the Dems who follow one “General” even if he is an inexperienced, incompetent jerk.
I confess that I hear all this talk of this or that person throwing their hat in the ring for the republican nomination, but regarding democrats, all I hear is “Hillary”.
What puzzles me is that she has no accomplishments, is a terrible candidate, and has no chance of winning short of massive and unprecedented voter fraud.
So what gives?
Cruz, Palin, Walker . . the rest of them aren’t worthy of a trip to the polls. Hillary big gov’t, Bush big gov’t, or Romney big gov’t. which is better?
See my tagline for the reason why.
Sounds familiar ...
Where have I heard this before?
No accomplishments? Terrible Candidate? No chance of winning?
Barack Hussein Soetoro Odinga 0bama?
They’re banking on two things, both of which rely on low-info/stupid voters:
(1) “hey! Remember the 90s?”; and,
(pardon me for being so crude here, but it’s true)
(2) “look! She has a vagina! Woooooow!”
Don’t forget the freebie bonanza to get the young low-infos to turn out in droves again (”free” college, student loan forgiveness, mandatory paid sick leave, etc.)
Silly Leo McNeil, that was their plan all along.
The Republican Congress is doing nothing. The media is promoting the same worthless crap for the GOP.
Yes, but he did have attributes that she doesn’t have. She is not an articulate, light skinned negro.
And there is no “white guilt” vote to parlay into any kind of block. A lot of Holder’s People will simply stay home this time. She’s not black.
The Republicans didn't really "win" anything. They were simply seen as he lesser of two evils. Voters picked their poison, so to speak, and gave the pathetic GOP votes they did not earn or deserve.
When your opponent self-destructs you benefit, at least in the short run. That's all the 2014 election was about.
