Supplemented with a minefield
I’m looking at cantilever designs. Our local fencing company has several examples around town. Can’t do normal sliding as the track would trip my snowplow. Swinging gates are annoying. I haven’t had it quoted yet.

So, what you really need is 4 bubbles and a nurse, rather than a gate......
pretty much Larry
The gates and the columns were all that survived the fire.
I just use a garage door opener mounted horizontally to open a sliding gate on my driveway. My old Genie has been in service for ten years with an occasional lube. The other three gates are locked and manual. My neighbor across the street tried a swinging gate, touch pad, remote etc. He had three service calls within two weeks and went manual for his driveway.
I think a nubile nurse named Bubbles would do.
Or if you want to go medieval:
So sorry.
Very much so. It is a very robust design and it takes a lot to impress me.
I feel great now. The Winnipeg Jets just dogged the Blackhawks in Chicago.
Good Night and thanks to all the posts and advice. Merry Christmas.
One of my brothers builds and installs custom gates, complete with opener. Turnkey job- six grand. He stays plenty busy.
