It is quite clear that someone is lying (we leave it up to readers to decide who). The question is "why"?
As I understand it the malware was written in Korean. The warning that has been posted is obviously not written by a native English speaker. As someone who spent 3 years in Korea and is married to a Korean it sounds very much like something written by a Korean.
North Korea has the resources and the will to do this.
Sony hacked itself for publicity? Revealed personal data will be found to be false.
Provide impetus for more anti-piracy, and more restrictions on the net for the general population.
Give bo a chance to apologize to NK.
Well, why would anyone want to hack Sony and make threats to get them to not release this particular film, if it were not the North Koreans?
It might have been the Chinese, doing a favor for the Norks, but nothing else seems to make any sense.
Oh please. It is common knowledge in the IT world that Sony is easy pickings. They have been hit on the gaming side more than once.
I don’t know about these things but I would think that there would some kind of insurance policy for things like this. That could be the reason Sony went this route to at least make their investment back. Just a thought.
