This pull-quote from an out-of-print from an historian who interviewed average Germans in Germany about how they could support a genocidal dictatorship from 1933 to 1945.

I find this pull quote most alarming, because in my opinion, this adroitly illustrates how most Americans and most posts I am reading here on FR are accepting this fundamental transformation from a republic to a fascist oligarchy now ruling us.

History repeats, because we forget and choose to ignore history, thinking that kind of thing cannot happen here. Yet the voices from the past not only warn us, they are screaming at us that it is already here, and we refuse to recognize it.

Mostly because we set aside our principles for expediency. We lie to ourselves that tomorrow will be the same as it was yesterday, and we go through the delusional exercise of practicing insanity by telling ourselves we will fix it the next election cycle by simply electing more of the same.

The German people did not recognize nor care that they lost their Republic, and apparently - neither do we Americans at the end of 2014.
