Obama AG Nominee Lynch: Voter ID Laws were Passed by Racist Southerners, Must be Stopped
Pundit Press ^ | 11/8/14 | Aurelius

In a speech given at Long Beach earlier this year, President Obama's new nominee for Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, specifically called out voter ID laws as racist.

The remarks came at the end of a long speech, explaining the examples that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela set for people.

Ms. Lynch then began talking about the inequities that she sees in the United States...

She continued, "50 years after the march on Washington, 50 years after the civil rights movement, we stand in this country at a time when we see people trying to take back so much of what Dr. King fought for. We stand in this country. People try and take over the State House and reverse the goals that have been made in voting in this country.

"But I'm proud to tell you that the Department of Justice has looked at these laws and looked at what's happening in the Deep South, and in my home state of North Carolina has brought lawsuits against those voting rights changes that seek to limit out ability to stand up and exercise our rights as citizens. And those lawsuits will continue."

Ms. Lynch was no doubt talking about the Justice Department's lawsuit against North Carolina to stop their voter ID laws. Eric Holder even used the same kind of language as Lynch: “Allowing limits on voting rights that disproportionately exclude minority voters would be inconsistent with our ideals as a nation,” he explained.

If by “racist” this stooge means “people who want to preserve the integrity of the election system in our country and prevent vote fraud”, then please count me among the “racists”.

Did people expect Obama would nominate Mark Levin?

No dimwit! It is to keep foreigners from having any say in our election! You know it, I know it and most everybody with half a brain knows it. Those who deny it, even though they don’t like it, know it too!

No keeping the thread bumped. Cruz and Lee need this info to deny her the AG appointment. Keep up.

Correct. But voting is also not a right, but a privilege, as the Founders, and numerous SCOTUS rulings, have made undeniably clear.

As Professor Epps makes clear, not only is there a right to vote in the Constitution, but it’s the single right that appears most often in the Constitution’s text – five times in all. In fact, four separate Amendments – the 15th, 19th, 24th, and 26th – even use the same powerful language to protect it: “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged . . . .” Of course, like every other constitutional right, the right to vote is subject to reasonable restrictions. Nevertheless, it’s just as much a constitutional right as any other embodied in our Constitution.

Minor vs. Happersett:
Being unanimously of the opinion that the Constitution of the United States does not confer the right of suffrage upon any one, and that the constitutions and laws of the several States which commit that important trust to men alone are not necessarily void, we AFFIRM THE JUDGMENT.
That's still 'law of the land.' The 15th, 19th, 24th and 26th Amendments do not grant any right to vote. They only prohibit denying the privilege of voting based on previous condition of servitude, race, sex, or age (except for those under 18.)

Dr. King marched for VOTER FRAUD???

Connecting Dr. King's struggle to eliminating voter ID to perpetrate voter fraud insults his memory, IMO.

PING!

I hope the GOP does not let her out of the gate. She’s an advocate of voter fraud.

A narcissist doesn’t stop adoring himself. When he is also a bigot beyond compare, he doesn’t change that either - would have been shocked if his new AG pick wasn’t a racist activist. Now they will be able to re-open the door of ‘war on women’ when folks criticize her for her misdeeds.

Liberal CNN Analyst Laments ‘Best Campaigner’ Dems Have in Obama ‘Locked Away in the WH’
By Curtis Houck | November 5, 2014 | 2:11 AM EST

Early Wednesday morning, liberal CNN political commentator Cornell Belcher groaned during CNN’s midterms elections coverage that the Democratic Party’s top campaigner in President Barack Obama was unable to defend attacks against his record and help Democrats on the campaign trailer because he “was basically locked away in the White House.”
