Sheesh.
Let the kids dress up as ballerinas or tigers and go get candy.
Its fun to be scared of ghosts and ghouls, just like going to a scary movie. It doesn’t mean you condone bad things that happen in the movie or the Halloween witches and zombies, its just some good clean fun. Our kids love it and really focus more on dressing up and getting candy.
Now, the many adult parades and celebrations are definitely not kid friendly and those events celebrate depravity. I would suggest you focus your ire on those events rather than the harmless fun the kids have. I think I turned out ok. I dressed up as a ghost, c3po and superman when I was little and I don’t think it damaged me at all, or at least not much....
Projection issues much?
The writer is correct. Halloween is about death. That’s what covens celebrate and it’s their biggest “holiday”. They don’t celebrate Christ’s birth or death so Halloween doesn’t compare at all as a pagan “holiday”.
“Halloween ruins children”

What an idiot.
I’m 82 years old and still remember ,with great fondness,my childhood Halloweens.
I wasn’t aware that I had been ruined.
.
Celebrating Gay marriage is a thousand fold more evil.
Stop this fiend!
good for the author
Get over it.....leave the country if you don't like the holidays. So dang sick of it!
Party pooper springs to mind.
I would venture that some sort of mock/serious festival concerning death, spirits, ghosts, gods, etc., is part of most cultures. You certainly see it in many Christian cultures, Buddhist cultures, Hindu cultures, Native American cultures, and so forth.
Years ago I went with My wife to a store that specializes in Christmas decorations year - round. They always had a small seasonal section for the current holiday as well. One year I noticed that it was early October, yet there was no halloween stuff on sale. I asked a sales clerk why. Her snide answer: “We don’t celebrate PAGAN holidays in this store!” I laughed to myself, looked at her and said “well in that case you might want to start taking down all of these trees in here”. To which she replied “wait, what?”. I then said “Look, I don’t have time to explain it to you lady but I’ll give you a word that will explain it. The word is ‘druid’- look it up”. I then walked away leaving a very bewildered sales clerk in my wake. Trust me on this one, Satan has a lot bigger fish to fry than the controversy stirred up each year by halloween.

I respect the opinion. We just give kids candy, joke with them, get them laughing, smiling, and having fun. But that ‘s just us.
Bill Cosby was right when he called trick or treating organized begging.
Boring writer.
It took you a (now) four-part series to say that you aren’t going to celebrate Halloween?
Also, I notice that while you posted parts 1-3 on FR, you now link to them on your own blog. Way to blog-pimp!
Go you!
Anyway, back to Halloween... can’t you just, you know, quietly and courageously lead by example?
Does it really need to be a four-part screed about how you really just want to be respected for your choices and left alone to do as you please?
You have clearly put more thought and action into Halloween than most people who celebrate it do.
I wen ahead and read to the end of The Book. Christ triumphs over Death and Evil eternally. Those who believe in Him don't need to worry. Evil can't take you unless you allow it.
Here IS the links? "is"?? OMG...THAT right there is darkness and mayhem or whatever....geez.
