I think they ran out of the "miracle drug" weeks ago, and no more is expected until months from now. They have to rely on the possibility of using survivors' blood or something like that until more "miracles" are available.
In the meantime, the "miracle" of prayer may be their best hope, even though God's answer to our prayers isn't always what we explicitly asked for.
Japan has a similar drug that has been used successfully in France, and they have 20 thousand doses at the ready. They don’t have to wait for the miracle Z drug, they just need to get some from Japan. Apparently that’s not gonna happen.
Now if the media would just go bonkers reporting France’s success, maybe the people would run to France or Japan.
Got to wonder how much you love someone when you willfully expose them to something like this. Ultimate act of selfishness on his part. He should not be allowed to stay in the country.
It appears likely that his spirit will be departing for realms unknown pretty soon. Where his body goes after that is largely irrelevant as long as it gets decontaminated first.
Waltzing into that apartment in street clothes unprotected and spending what, 45 minutes there was very ill-advised grandstanding, as was turning up at a press conference wearing the same potentially contaminated clothing.
It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with preventing the spread of a very unsettling virus that kills between 50 and 90 percent of those who contract it worldwide.
If ebola originated in Australia with the same symptoms, prognosis and cause of death it would be no less unsettling. Would Judge Jenkins have waltzed in there for show out of concern over treatment if they weren’t black? No, he wouldn’t.
He’s been hyper-sensitized to any sort of bad feeling about perceived mistreatment of black people. He thought it looked bad, in other words, and risked his life and the life of his family to make a symbolic gesture. His reaction was knee-jerk on the basis of his political leanings and education.
Bullet is too messy but I otherwise agree.
Jenkins is a special kind of stupid.
I admit I do not know the first thing about this guy, but are you sure he is stupid, and not just plain evil?
Not so much stupid as completely blinded by ideology. He also has a white knight complex, envisioning himself as savior of poor and downtrodden brown and black people. That’s racist in and of itself, a skewed sort of noblesse oblige, but they don’t see it. AIDS was hard to catch short of a tainted transfusion, shooting up with a dirty needle or homosexual sex. This can be contracted much more easily by comparison, and he did cross that line whether or not he’s telling the truth about CDC assurance of safety.
Ostracized? How about QUARANTINED.
Nobody wants to catch Ebola.
Oh surprise, surprise. Journalists of color. JOCs.
Send them back to Liberia where they’ll feel more welcome.
Like someone upthread noted, the visa-overstaying Liberians don’t want the CDC and ICE poking around their apartment complexes. There are 10K in the DFW area.
He could be either I guess, but his latest stunt was plain stupid and irresponsible.
affirmative action: destroying American one incompetent at a time.
Yep, he is a committed liberal and an idiot.
This We the People petition needs signatures.
It reads, “WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:
restrict travel from regions affected with Ebola to protect the citizens of united states from widespread epidemic.
In light of the recent entry of a person from Liberia with Ebola it is time for the US to restrict travel from that region in order to prevent widespread epidemic. We ask that the President move swiftly to protect the people of the United States from this epidemic.

You're making it up as you go along, aren't you?
Pretend you're in Monrovia with an internet connection, and you need to book a flight home. GFL! What choice did he have? It's Brussels or bust!
Of course, he might have booked a flight on National Airlines to Trenton, but they only do charters on 747s, so I expect it would have been steep.
He's a Liberian visa overstayer wannabe who, unbeknownst to himself, lucked into Ebola.
