I see no difference between someone who has HIV and knowingly spreads it to others and this man.
If I had a potentially deadly disease and knew it, I would not knowingly contaminate innocent people. That is selfish and wrong.

It might have been selfish and wrong, but most in the same situation would most probably do done the same ... to get to a place were they might have a chance of survival.

That is selfish and wrong.A lot easier to say than do - especially when it isn't just a choice of "sharing" as in AIDS, but a case of trying to save one's own life. W all like to think we are highly moral beings, but we never really know until the fat lady starts warming up.
