Assad winning will also make Jordan and a bunch of Christians happy, because he is the best alternative there at this time. He does NOT have intentions of spreading a caliphate across the globe - and it very much seems that he is the ONLY party there of which that can be said. If Russia supports that... well, good for Russia.
