On my nightstand is a full size 1911 loaded with 230 gr hollow points. Leaning against the wall is a Mossberg 12 pump loaded with alternating slugs and #1 buck. On wife's side of the bed is my AR-15 loaded with NATO green tips. (
my AR ... hey, how did that happen?) We have 850 and backup 150 lumen lights...
I'm sure if given the chance we could find some room on one of our nightstands for the M&P though! :-)

Yep Remington pump for me.
Of all the expensive AR-15s, long rifles, carbines, and all the expensive pistols.... if given the choice... if I was confronting someone in my house, I would always go with my $350 12ga with AA buck.
