Actually, the original photos were a great deal more frightening, but they've been Photoshopped by HuffPo so that they can be viewed by the public without causing a general panic. These scientists are really, really skeered.

Even knowing that most FReepers can field dress a moose with a small pocket knife, I present here only the tamest of the unretouched original photos. It does indeed convey some sense of their rising alarm, nearing hysteria. Note the torrid atmospheric conditions and rising water levels in the background.
