I just watched "Day of the Siege" on Netflix. Wow! No political correctness anywhere that I noticed.

I highly recommend the movie! More than ever, the world is embroiled in the battle of good and evil; God and the devil; Christianity and Islam. There will be only one winner.

Note that the date of 9/11/1683. Perhaps 9/11/2001 was specifically chosen for its historical significance.

One result of that battle was the popularity of coffee in the West.

The Battle of Vienna was something right out of a Good Novel or Movie.

You could not have written it any better.

Yeah, I watched yesterday too.
Really liked it. I think the lack of PC is due to its Polish influence.

Most of our under-educated, and frankly ignorant public have no inkling that Islam attempted to conquer Europe as late as 1683. The dumb twits thinks the last crusade was in the middle ages. The sons of pig f’n dogs have always been there, looking for the opportunity and I believe are poised to make another large scale try to conquer Europe.

Was just in Vienna last month too.
Before that was in Istanbul. Standing at the old city walls of Constantinople I teared up. Could just imagine that horrible day in 1453...

I doubt that had they taken Vienna in 1683, the Turks could have gone on to conquer Europe. To do so, they would have had to defeat France, which had a powerful army under King Louis XIV. Spain, Denmark, Sweden, the Dutch Republic and England also had potent armies.

But then again, they could have successfully played these countries off against one another, which would not have been hard.

I think this is the one I’d read about some time ago and was interested in seeing it when it was released. It sounded good. Thanks for the tip. I’ll look it up.

Actually, I thought the movie was kind of trite. The acting sucked, the characters were shallow, and the effects amateurish. But the story was pretty accurate historically, and there was nothing PC about it.

It has inspired me to learn more about the event, and especially about Jan Sobieski, who pretty much saved the day, and by extension, Christianity.
