What Would It Take To Defund the Islamic State?

11 Year Old Child Bride Speaks Out Before Being Killed

The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and the President of Indonesia are uncomfortable with their heritage as presented on videos of beheadings and child-rapes live on the world's computer monitors.

In the unlikely event that they were serious about their discomfort, what would it take to defund the Islamic State?

It controls oil production facilities capable of supplying it with the equivalent of $3 million daily.

That is a hard asset, easiest to deprive them of.

The softer asset of the bank notes they stole might be more difficult to deprive them of.

What currencies did they steal?

If they were specie of major international currencies, it could be difficult.

If they were currencies of a smaller country, might it be simply a matter of devaluing or invalidating the stolen currencies?

Woe to the bloody city, all lies,
full of plunder, whose looting never stops!
The crack of the whip, the rumbling sounds of wheels;
horses a-gallop, chariots bounding,
Cavalry charging, the flame of the sword, the flash of the spear,
the many slain, the heaping corpses,
the endless bodies to stumble upon!
I will cast filth upon you,
disgrace you and put you to shame;
Till everyone who sees you runs from you, saying,
“Nineveh is destroyed; who can pity her?
Where can one find any to console her?”

We'd have to go to the mid-east and take "their" oil rather than pay them for it so they can buy weapons.

No more weapons to Islamists for oil.....

If they’re dead they can’t steal or spend money. Kill them all.

We now produce more oil than Saudi Arabia.

Stop buying Arab oil would be a start.

Exactly right. American Energy Independence. We have all we need here, we just need to develop it.

Bonus: Cheap, plentiful energy at home on American Soil is the key to bringing manufacturing back to the United States of America.

"We now produce more oil than Saudi Arabia. "

SA still derives its plenty-o-cash-flow to fund Jihad through the sale of its oil.

Wage economic warfare. I’m surprised the Saudi’s concern over fracking in this country went unnoticed by most. I guess this country is filled with many that couldn’t even buy a clue.

Middle Eastern countries need a given level of income to avoid destabilization. Many have been funding terrorism as a way of siccing their over supply of maladjusted males on the great Satan and accomplices.

Kill OPEC. The easiest way is simply allow the free export of LNG. The oil that is produced as a by product will ensure that the world price of oil will have the legs kicked out form under it. We used to take 25% of the world’s oil. That is dropping. We need to go to zero imports unless it is due to the cost of transportation. You can’t leave that much oil on the market without affecting inventories and the price.

The sand ******** can pound sand and oil. Take away the excess money and they won’t be able to fund terrorism as easily as they have in the past. Now that ISIS is out in the open we need to pound them into oblivion. Granted that won’t happen with our own Grand Mufti as president. At least we should send as many as possible to the afterlife.

Considering their oil sales amount to over a million USD a day, a few hits on pipeline infrastructure every week would put an end to that. However the greenies and foreign countries dependent on that oil would have a collective cartwheeling fit.

Considering how expensive the drilling technology is to extract resources like the Bakken dropping the bottom out of the oil market would cut our own throat.

The concept ignores the emerging oil markets in India, China, and elsewhere--the developing world. The slack would be taken up by other buyers, or there would not be any, eventually.

The only way to hurt them with oil is to deprive them of the revenue from it. Oil infrastructure is far from hardened, even there. Soft targets, every well, every pipeline, every production facility. But it will spill and burn and make a mess (recall the Iraqi retreat from Kuwait).

Has anyone noticed the similarity in dress between the ISIS terrorists and the Black Bloc terrorists?

Someone mentioned that the Black Bloc had been sited in Ferguson and I decided to see what else the Black Bloc had been up to lately. What I found was that people also claimed that the Black Bloc had been seen in Egypt, fighting for or with the Muslim Brotherhood.

So, is the costume (not exactly a uniform) a coincidence or are they part of the same anti-capitalist group?

That’s where the other gases associated with natural gas come in. Locally the price of NG is too low to justify drilling. The areas that produce propane, ethane, butane and pentane are being drilled. There’s enough “wet” components that long term contracts are being signed. One recently signed contract is for ethane that will be shipped to Sweden to make plastic. A Brazilian company has an option on property and is going through the process leading to building a cracker to process ethane into polyethane.

Several companies have built strippers locally to remove the wet components from the NG.

Keeping your eye on the ball means considering everything coming out of the well. It’s not just oil or natural gas. The wet gases have initiated billion dollar projects. Don’t forget the shortage of propane last year due to agricultural usage that spiked prices. Oil in many cases is a by product locally.
