America did not become great by keeping people out. We are great because, throughout our history, we have held our doors wide open to those seeking a new start, economic opportunity, and a chance to raise their families in peace and freedom.
Tragically, our outdated immigration laws no longer uphold this quintessentially American vision. The country founded and built by immigrants now erects unnecessary barriers that turn aspiring Americans away and tear families apart. America desperately needs for Congress to pass immigration reform, to fix this broken system that so clearly fails to meet our needs.
I am the child of immigrants. My parents came here in search of a better life in the early 1900s, when regulations were much simpler and citizenship easier to obtain. Today it is a struggle for many people who want to become Americans. A set of arbitrary quotas established years ago leaves little room for refugees and provides limited opportunity for job seekers, even when U.S. employers very much need their help.

My question is how can the Catholic Bishops claim illegals are living lawfully here when to live here really requires many illegals to live dishonest lives from use of fake or stolen documents to driving without licenses/insurance upon having an accident the illegal without insurance do not have to pay restitution.Millions of Americans are out of work.They themselves would like to be given a new start, economic opportunity for their families.Catholic Bishops, I do not think see that America is no longer the America it once was.The Catholic Bishops, need to be talking to these countries and tell them get rid of the corruption,get rid of the greed and get rid the families with money that run the country and demand said countries - start making opportunities in their own countries. We can take in 30 million and there would still be millions more who will continue to come here.America is full. We opened our doors to those who would benefit our country. We kept the doors firmly closed to those who would harm it. And that included those who were diseased!
America is ceasing to be great simply because too many people that have no legal business being here are killing the golden goose. They’re not leaving the third world behind, they’re taking it with them.
Exactly right. I would also note that the people flooding across our border aren't seeking "economic opportunity", but all the welfare and government handouts they can find.

Immigrants were once expected to adapt to our values of respecting liberty, family, hard work, private property, limited government, rule of law, and a spirit of independence. Today they want food stamp cards, housing, free healthcare, free education, and all of it without respecting our laws, our private property or our culture. They aren’t coming here to make our country better. They are coming here to get what they can get, and give us the lawlessness they have come from.
All it really takes for illegals to destroy us is for them to support Democrats and leftist policies.

As long as federal employees are administering immigration laws and policies they will always fail. Even if the laws and policies would, in theory, be beneficial to all, they will fail because federal bureaucracies are ineffective, inefficient and politically corrupt.

Our country has changed. We do not need uneducated and unskilled workers looking for welfare who refuse to learn English. We do not need more criminals and those who hate this country.
