"These regulations do not apply to cars that are at least 25 years old, but owners of the grabbed vehicles had no chance to present a defense before their SUVs were taken. The owners were only given until June 23 to file a formal contest to the seizures, which they could not have done because the court did not unseal the case until July 16. US District Judge James C. Fox denied a request to give owners more time to contest the seizure of their property."

Perfect authoritarian thinking. Citizen, you had a chance to appeal and you didn't. You are guilty and now you are talking to the press; another offense. Now be quiet and pay your taxes ... or else.

...as I’ve noted before, ANYTHING that gets British Cars off the road is a GOOD THING.

Got any pictures of the cars that were seized? They could be a Frankenstein concoction, taking parts from different years, but retaining the old VIN numbers.

Presuming the government is lying, what do they gain from this?

40 more vehicles for ISIS, drug cartels or faux “militia terrorists” here in this country?

“Presuming the government is lying, what do they gain from this?”

Two things government agencies do not have to make are sense and a profit. So “gain” is not a factor in their action, just flexing muscle.

It may simply gratify the lust for power of some petty bureaucrat.

People get into government because they enjoy using power against other people.

Standard Operating Procedure in all banana republics.

Some bureaucrat(s) desires your property and SHAZAM, it becomes contraband to be confiscated by the state. Then after the hearings by a kangaroo court, said contraband is sold or gifted to members of the ruling class.
