I live here in Central Michigan. Dave Camp MI-R, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee is retiring. We have a primary race between Paul Mitchell, John Molenaar and Pete Konechty.
Konechty filed to run against Camp before he dropped out, seems to be the true Tea Party candidate. Molenaar is a State Senator and Paul Mitchell, businessman/GOP finance chair, both filed after Camp dropped out. I'm going by memory on this.
Paul Mitchell has swamped the district with tv, radio, internet, mail and robocalls. Molenaar has followed with radio ads and mailers. I haven't heard from Konechty, who I believe has been swamped. Molenaar has been endorsed by Camp, Tea Party Express and Sen. Mike Lee.
Both the top dogs have been running as true conservatives and attacking the others. I don't know who to believe in this race.
Oooh, bringing out the big guns, huh?
I will call in to it.
Post 20 for info.
Shoot, got busy, missed call-in at 6:45. I called in at 7, but it said the teleconference was not active. Anybody call in? Report?
Did you call in? Is the teleconference on? Report?

I am sitting here trying every couple of minutes since around 6:30. Either “This teleconference is not active. Please try your call again later.” Or an “all circuits are busy now” message. I will keep trying, there are people here who will do my dishes for me!
Jabba dear, are you sure they said 6:45?
Last try... 8:30PM and no conference.
I have no use for a national tea party group unless you consider AFP a tea party group. They don’t do anything on the ground. Local tea parties range by region but some of them do real good work, particulary the folks in Hartland.
Yes. In the message there’s another number given to call the Moolenaar campaign. Perhaps give them a call.
teleconference on now.
Moolenaar has to keep explaining that he actually didn’t vote for Obamacare, didn’t give money to Stabenow, etc. He has promised to keep working on simplifying the tax code. He has talked about Common Core a couple times now and said that schools belong under local control rather than federally mandated control. I haven’t heard anything yet that I don’t like or that makes me think he’s hiding things. For instance, someone asked Mitchell if he was a Christian and he hesitated and said yes, and in fact had been to church that morning. Just now Moolenaar got a question about his beliefs and he is giving a much more straightforward answer that applies to the office he’s running for - mentioning God given rights to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness - importance of sticking to our principles, the Constitution. Also mentioning how Common Core is pulling our children away from the Founder’s principles.
I think that after seeing a few Youtube videos of him, and of Mitchell’s ads, and Konetchy’s, and now hearing these two teleconferences, I’m voting for Moolenaar. If Mitchell wins it might not be a horrible thing but it bothers me that he is spending millions to get a job that pays 100K a year. Konetchy seems like a nice guy but he hasn’t got a chance.
