The first thing to consider in the aftermath of the underhanded stunt the GOPe pulled to keep their hands on power in Mississippi is that right now the candidacy of Chris McDaniel is dead. It cannot be killed because it is dead.

This sentence makes absolutely no sense.

As has been pointed out, write in campaigns aren't legal in Mississippi. So we have an example of another blogger (albeit a pretty good one) who evidently doesn't know what he is talking about.

I would be among the first one here to favor the idea of punishing the GOP-E. But invalidating a ballot is not one of the ways I'd advocate. There are always downticket races and usually referenda that need conservative input and having a ballot thrown out because of a violation doesn't help any other conservative in Missisippi.

Leave the Senate spot blank if you must, or find a valid way to vote for McDaniel. But ballot spoiling helps no one but the Democrats.

...helps no one but the dems....

Don't you get it? A significant percentage of constitutional conservatives DON'T WANT a majority in the US Senate unless they clean house, starting with the nomination going to McDaniels (Cochran can make it simple by refusing the nomination). Do you seriously want McCain, Murkowski, McDonnell, Flake, Ayotte, Collins, etc etc to be the majority of anything?

So, if someone writes in McDaniels the whole ballot is spoiled?

That’s too bad. I knew write-ins were invalid, but tossing the while ballot precludes writing in McDaniels anyway as a visible protest.
