Oh, no doubt. The Left has done a great job stomping Christianity and patriotism out of society these past sixty years. Yet people will not believe in nothing. Islam is a statist creed, which the Left encourages to fill the void.
Increased tension that comes with ethnic and religious, especially Muslim influx gives the government a job to do: setting laws to regulate human relations, expanding the military and militarizing the police, and growing the welfare state. That is the real reason the governments keep bringing them in.
