“The USPTO, via an administrative action last week, decided to drop the copyright and trademark protection of the word “Redskins” in an attempt to force the NFL team from using the word in its name. Aside from being an attack on property rights, this action was a grotesque attack on the First Amendment because it’s censorship. However, this type of action is not expected to be applied elsewhere. For instance, the terrorist group overrunning Iraq has applied for and are expected to receive protection for the word “ISIS” now that they have a thriving merchandising business. “

Looks like the folks over at FX Television may be in for a windfall....
