In Iraq we're on the side of taking out the terrorists we armed and trained in Syria. Maybe Obama wants them to go back and defeat Assad? (sarcasm)
The only answer at this point would be if every player in the ME got rational, put aside their differences, and worked together to take the arms and fighting ability away from ISIS and any other group fighting to topple regimes. Just like Egypt did with their out-of-control maniacs.
