Whoa. I think I had that several years ago, so thanks for the reminder! I will download it. I know...salespeople have to make a living, too, and I understand that, but I can’t support EVERYbody who wants my money!
*snort*
So you’re using IE? On what version of Windoze? When you go to Control Panel and click ‘internet options’, what is shown in the home page box? Only thing that should be in there is your home page. If there is more stuff there, delete it. Depending on version of IE there might be a ‘start up’ box. Check the ‘start with home page’, especially if something has changed it to ‘start with tabs from last session’.
I have a Plan to order Hamish the Teddy in the Stewart Tartan (my genealogy goes to the Royalty) as soon as I have nothing else “important” to buy.
It took a long time for me to find my tartan. Years ago, all I could find was Logan-MacLennan, and gave my brother a tie in that tartan. He still has it... 45 years later...

I got that worked out, but I can't figure out why Goober is still trying to smack me with its insidious extra pages...I don't LIKE Goober, I have never USED Goober, and if they died tomorrow, I could care less.
Do I have to go to a Restore Point in order to get rid of this excrement?
Oh. Sorry. Win7, IE8.
But is/was anything else listed in the ‘home page’ box in internet options? And is IE being told to start on home page or previous tabs?
Restore points are for Windoze issues. If all that is happening is that IE is displaying more stuff on startup than it should, it seems to be more of an IE issue than a Windoze issue.
Also, if you go to task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del, choose start task manager) is there anything in applications tab or processes tab that has a suspicious name like grooberanything.exe, dll, or anything else?
At first, there were three things in the Internet Options box, and I was able to delete them after several tries.
When I access my home page, I click on the IE icon and along with the homepage, I get the other stuff.
I have a Restore Point...if that is needed. I just don’t want to rely on Win7/IE8 for eternity. And I don’t want to buy a new laptop.
OH. I had no clue, she said, with her blonde roots showing. Give me a few to check out this k-new thing.
There are 18 files with .exe, and I don’t know enough to delete which ones are the culprits...
But is there anything that contains the name ‘goober’ with or without anything else? Almost any running program will be an .exe file. What you’re looking for is this particular obnoxious one...
can you list them? copy and paste?
Win TaskMngr won't let you do that. Only way would be a screen shot.
Nope.
Thanks NC.
How do I do a Screen Shot?
Use one of these:
But you'll have to tilt the monitor on its side.
To the right of your F1-12 keys is the Print Screen button. Push that. It will copy your screen to the clipboard as a .bmp (I think) file. Then you would need to display it in some graphic program (win photo viewer? don't know what comes w/Windoze - I've been using PaintShop Pro ever since it was shareware - which was a LOOOng time ago ;-) which will allow you to save it or whatever - upload to photobucket or whatever you have so you can email it/post it..
But before you get to that point, check a couple more things for me. First of all, you didn't say whether this Goober ting showed up in the 'uninstall program' on Control Panel.. If it did and you uninstalled it, have you restarted the machine since then? If not, it might still be running.. Also... Go to your Start Menu/All Programs and scroll down to Start Up. See if this goober thing is listed there. If so, highlight it and delete it. Restart machine.
Also, revisit your task manager. You didn't say whether any of those .exe fies that were running had anything that looked like this name in it. (It may or may not have additional letters/numbers it it, but the telltale part would be the 'goober'.. ) If so, highlight just that particular process and click 'end process'. You'll get a Windoze gripe screen warning of glowbull warming, creeks rising, oBama being crowned emperor for life, and other dire disasters. Ignore the warning and end the process. Restart the machine. See if the problem is gone. If not, recheck the startup folder and/or the task manager to see if what you deleted has come back. If so, we have more work to do.
Ummm...
Actually, you can paste the screen shot directly into an email, at least on Yahoooo or using Thunderbird. You won’t be able to edit out stuff you don’t want anyone to see though...
