One of the oldest distilleries in the country is warning of what some observers are calling a

I saw that! I will go on a weekday...
As soon as my truck is working...
There's some falling from the sky.
And I am wet. Something senses when I get out the lawnmowingthingie...
We may get a bit of rain out of Hurricane Arthur tonight, but it’s just brushing the North Carolina coast.
The weather report here is all over the storm that is hitting the East Coast.
This worries me because of all my Favorite Freepers on the East Coast...and Canada...
It has me so concerned, though I’m hoping it blows out to sea. (Fat chance, that...)
The walk to Walmart still has me a little breathless, and I had to do the Nitro, the emergency inhaler and “artificial relaxants.” I took a dose on the nebulizer this morning before I left, but the humidity has nullified most of it. I need to take another dose, but add the steroid. It seems to be the only thing that overrides the humidity.
I wish you all a Wonderful Independence Day! God Bless the USA! Have a Busch Light!
Those storms are running to the Southeast of us, Face. We're OK. :-)

I hope everyone is well.
We might be having puppies.
Where have you been, Girl??? I have missed you so much! Is Marshall taking all your time, these days?
Tell me about the puppies we might be having...please?
I’ve missed you too Face. I just don’t seem to have the time right now. *hug*
Marshall is a doll, and our daughter makes sure he spends time with us at least once a week. I’ll send a pic by email.
We tried to keep Rush away from our son’s female during her last heat, but.... Aussie meet Australian Cattle dog. Her hips seem wider, she is developing larger nipples, and our son isn’t talking to us.
Shame on your son...he should have known that dogs are real DOGS! LOL!
When does Sally leave?
About a week and a half.
Good luck with the puppies. I hope you don’t get two dozen!
I'm relatively high and dry. I headed for Pennsylvania to celebrate the Fourth.
We had a bit of rain along the way, helped to cool things off. But the ninety-degree weather we left in Maryland has been replaced by Nature's air conditioning here in the hills and valleys of central Pa.
So far.
Tomorrow is the Fourth! America looks good for having had so many birthdays. Long may she wave!
Had some torrential downpours of Noahic proportions and water pouring into the basement faster than the sump pump could remove it. Fortunately as long as the pump is running the rising tide doesn't get too high but if we had lost power then we would have an extremely wet basement.
And to think that the notalwaysAccuraWeather folk are saying that this storm is from the front that is supposed to steer Arthur out to sea after it kisses the Carolina coast.
We shall see... ;-)
One obvious thing to do in regard to sump pumps; use a battery-powered sump pump. Of course, the battery will give up after a bit, but maybe you could rig a line from your car, at least to get you through the worst of it.
Another thought depends on what your water source is. You can use municipal water pressure to pump out basement flooding via the Venturi effect. Seems wasteful, I know, but it's spending dollars to save dollars, so you'd have to do the math.
Or the thingie known as a generator - good until the gasoline/diesel/propane runs out.. ;-)
Our water source is often called a 'well', so no power, no pump (although the old redundant backup could be used - uncover the well and drop the bucket.) Makes the generator thingie more useful whenever I get around to buying one.
The only real problem we have had in the basement-flood department was in the aftermath of Sandy when we were without power for about six days. Water got a bit deeper than we would have liked then - it got the Beckett burner pump motor (blower motor was not immersed, so that at least was a plus.) When power was restored, the sump pump ran for about 12 hours straight...
Of course, if I owned the place I would invest in more stuff than I am willing to do for the landlord's benefit if you get the drift..
Stormed here a bit after supper, nothing major. They had a tornado warning where Elen is, near the coast. DP got in a bit of a fluster, but I pointed out that this isn’t the first time they’ve had weather there during the summer. They have shelters and safety procedures and stuff.
This is you, who knew you were a cat?!
