Rush Limbaugh astutely pointed out how Obama , Pelosi, et al are setting up a strategy whereby the VA snafu will be blamed on two “unnecessary Bush wars” that our young president valiantly strove to end, which has resulted in an untenable volume of vets at VA health centers (2 million extra according to Pelosi) that, in turn, led to the abuses now being revealed. In short, according to Rush, it will all be blamed on Bush and Republicans. That's why the VA head can't be dismissed, tantamount to an admission of guilt.

Agree that this strategy will be invoked.
The truth is that the number of veterans (and veterans requiring treatment) is significantly smaller than it was even 10 years ago. The costs to treat these fewer vets have risen about 30%, though. Some part of that is undoubtedly due to more expensive med costs. Some part of it is probably admin costs.
Don’t they say that 10,000 baby boomers retire every day?
In WW2, roughly 11% of adult men were in the military.
Doesn’t that mean that 1,000 WW2/Korean vets die every day? Not to be snarky or crass, but isn’t that just about the same piece of math?
