CORPUS CHRISTI - A veteran on a mission to raise money for wounded warriors and their families says he hit a snag in his efforts when he made it to the Corpus Christi city limits. U.S. Army veteran Rooster Lee is doing a 100 mile long walk to raise money. He started his march up near Sinton, dressed in full fatigues and carrying an American flag. But 54 miles into his walk, the Corpus Christi Police Department stopped him near the Harbor Bridge. According to Rooster, officers told him he was breaking the law by walking along the highway without a permit. Corpus Christi police say that's not true. They suspect there was a miscommunication. A spokesman says drivers were concerned for his safety and asked police to step in. We're told a permit is nly required if someone needs a highway lane shut down for an activity. Rooster hasn't gotten back with us to talk about how he plans to finish the last 47 miles of his trek.

I’m speechless.
In my day the cops would have provided him with their personal escort. Now, Obama’s Brown Shirts are just itching to show off their muscle.
Tell the callers that if they are wrong each and every one of them are responsible for all court costs and defense costs.
Make them pay to play.
When I hear Hannah say we are the freest country in the world, I just laugh.
Hannity
Bizarre. Corpus always used to be a laid back, easy going place.
Halliburton sent me to truck driving school in Corpus, and it seemed like a nice place. I also hitchhiked through there a couple of times when I was a kid, with no hassles from the cops, but those were the days when cops tended to leave people alone, unless they were breaking the law. It’s sad how things have changed.
A$$holes should have given a police escort across the bridge.
People need to pay attention to what is being said and not what they THINK they heard.
Great! Then they will be happy to release all the 911 tapes of people calling in all concerned about this guy walking.
I think there is more to this than we are being told. I’ll bet the American flag “offended” some Muzzies or illegals. JMO.
Well, Of course. You MUST have the proper permits.
After all, we cannot have people walking on our precious highways without them purchasing the proper permit.
God, What kind of a country do we have left?
“Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose”
Good thing he wasn’t walking his dog. Texas cops are among the most gung ho power hungry thugs in the nation.
Maybe GW will see this and help sure no RAT would help.
my guess is they told him it was illegal w/out a permit. then the story broke, and they said something different.
That is what I was thinking. Not wanting the bad press, they came up with a different BS story. It's a good thing he didn't have a dog with him.
Thank God he didn’t have a dog they could shoot
Cop was pi**ed that there was no dog to shoot.
A spokesman says drivers were concerned for his safety and asked police to step in.
Oh the famous unidentified faceless drivers.
