Did they put Barbara and Laura Bush on their cover as many times?
Every issue had articles on how to lose weight. Guess they didn’t work very well.
Nice. Let the thing die. Frankly, the presence of MO probably helped hasten the demise, and the editorial board and publisher didn’t even know it.
LHJ has always featured first ladies. Problem for them really is they’re an artifact from a bygone era. It’s always been housewife monthly, and there just aren’t many housewives anymore.
Mooch’s before and afters are telling. I’d love to know how much her transformation has cost (us). Surgeons, trainers, dietitians, aestheticians, stylists . . .
(With the exception of Catholic Answers magazine, which is growing 8-)
There isn’t a single women’s or men’s magazine at the general news stands that is worth purchasing. In fact, even if they gave them away gratis (which a lot of the magazines wind up doing through airline and other loyalty points programs), they aren’t worth taking. They are beyond fluff to the downright inane. Again and again with the same diet and cloths and sex advice sprinkled among ads. If the editorial staff would have done focus groups, they’d have learned that American women don’t look up to Michelle Obama. Just the opposite. Her photo on the cover is a detriment. Featuring Lassie on the cover would have sold more.
