" Right sector" creates battalion "Donbass" to fight the separatists in the eastern regions of Ukraine. At a press conference, said the leader of the "right sector," a presidential candidate Dmitry Jaros , transmits media center "Dnepr Post."
" We support the Geneva agreement , but we see that the invaders do not understand the peace talks , and the only way to get rid of them - is to conduct a quick and decisive counter-terrorist operation . " Right sector " ready to take part in it , and has already provided ready for fighting people. ... I declare that from now on " Right sector" takes the entire population under the protection of Donbass and ensures its free and comprehensive development . ... We are currently working on the creation of the battalion "Donbass" , which will work successfully on the territory of Donbass to stop anti-government actions , "- said Jaros .
According to him , the battalion will be formed in a very short time , no more than three days , and will consist of 800 people.
" Many of the residents of Donbass already come to us with a request to " Right sector " came and restored order . But " Right sector "- is not an independent military force , and we coordinate our actions with the state authorities ," - said Jaros .
A civil proxy war...
just like Syria
That's all I have to say.
God Bless them. May they kill all the Russian invaders that come into their homeland and send them back to weeping mothers who vainly support Putin’s Hitler/Milosevic like agenda.
The fascistic Right Sector, otherwise known as Pravy Sektor (from those who have felt their tender mercies) -— er I mean the new Ukrainian National Guardsmen -— (gotta change the name, like from Global warming to Climate Change).
Eastern Ukranians can trust that they have only more tender mercies to share. Why? The New York Times and John (”I served in Vietnam” and Christmas in Cambodia) Kerry said so!
Besides, Soros has invested heavily in Ukraine, and who cares that he gave big money to Media Matters and gives even more to Democrats.
Some at FR love John Kerry, McCain, Obama and Soros very much, though.
Me personally, I care as much about Putin as I do Obama.
We just need to stay out of this. And this would be achievable, if RINOS would keep us out of foreign entanglements and constant interventionism - those things which our Founding Fathers warned us about.
Ukes may want to re think your prayer considering that the US trained, supplied and equipped the Georgian military and police for more than a decade before the Russians mopped the floor with 'em, from a ready position far more remote than they now hold at the Ukraine border.
Russia's military is also six years more advanced, refined, weaponized and angry.
This won't be pretty, and the Ukes will get no help from the US. Georgia didn't, and the US had considerable troops on training exercises in Georgia when Saakashvili pulled the pin.
Hostilities can only end two ways, Ukes get slaughtered, or Ukes get slaughtered and we get WWIII.
Third possibility. Russia pushes into Ukraine and is bled by guerrilla warfare till it withdraws with an even more broken economy.
Putin is playing a masterful hand with weak cards at the moment, I'll give him that. Then again, he is primarily playing against Obama who is about as stupid as they come.
Russia isn't really that strong. Ukraine is a broken shell right now, but it will get it's act together and Russia's annexation of the Crimea was probably enough to unify most Ukrainians (even many ethnic Russians) to fight hard to keep the rest.
So, what part of what he said you consider Nazi? They are nationalist for sure, which is good.
That's what the Chechen terrorists and Chechen Military said about Russian Military at it weakest point, twenty years ago.
The Chechen Military is now one of the options Putin can order against the Ukes if he so chooses. Let's hope he doesn't, because they will do as they are told.
The Georgian military received very little from the US that was useful in a force-on-force clash. No F-16 fighters, no M1 tanks, no Apache choppers, no AC-130's. Even today, the major American items in the Georgian inventory are Humvees, Cougar MRAP's and a couple of former US Coast Guard vessels. Just how under-equipped were they? Here's a telling passage:
Even prior to the 2008 conflict Georgia had no missiles for the two vessels (Dioskura and Tbilisi) that had missile tubes.Even today, their coast guard/naval inventory isn't missile-armed:
As a new acquisition, and contracted prior to August 2008, the Georgian Coast Guard has placed one Turkish built MRTP-33 patrol/fast attack boat, the P-24 Sokhumi, into service. At least one more ship of this class is reportedly on order.[7][unreliable source?] These vessels are multi-mission capable so as to serve the diverse needs of Coast Guard response. The heaviest armament seen on these ships are 25-30mm cannon.6 years after the clash with the Russians, Georgia still has no American-made fixed wing aircraft. Its US inventory is limited to Vietnam-era Huey choppers.
My feeling is that Obama is crazy like a fox. Obama wants to make the US a European-style welfare state. But in order to pay for that, he is prepared to end the US's role as military welfare provider to the world. Some European countries are coming around to the view that Uncle Sam won't always be willing to be their defender of first resort. Accordingly, they are looking at increases in defense expenditures, for the first time since the end of the Cold War.
They employed poor tactics, as well, for which the Russians had prepared.
Likely the Russians are even more prepared for hostilities in Eastern Ukraine now, they certainly are showing the discipline necessary for a carefully prepared battle plan.
However, we both know that the likely first casualty is the battle plan.
I agree with both statements, and Obama certainly treats the Military (especially the personnel) as disposable toys.
My question is: How far will he provoke Russia? Would a strategic thermonuclear exchange be punishment enough for racist America, and racist Christian Russia?
Even today, the Georgians are mainly equipped for counter-insurgency. In the 6 years after the conflict, they have spent their money mostly on domestic defense boondoggles (building their own APC) instead of acquiring gently-used fighter aircraft (either American or ex-Warsaw Pact). In that time, they could have acquired dozens of these aircraft. While the biggest threat to Georgia's sovereignty is Russia, a close runner-up is the corruption of its political elites. Russia can afford to be as corrupt as Georgia because it has more extractable resources from the ground than the US, Brazil and Saudi Arabia combined. Georgia just has a bunch of mountains.
No leader of a nuclear state is going to initiate a first strike against another nuclear state with a counterstrike capability. What we have here is a modern version of the mutual hostage-taking policy that underpinned peace treaties in antiquity, where the crown prince and other members of the nobility would spend a good chunk of their lives as hostages who would be killed if their king broke the treaty and started a war. Nuclear weapons expand the scope of the hostage-taking dramatically. If Putin initiates a nuclear attack against the US, he is literally killing, via live cremation, all of his relatives and everyone he has ever known, in the American counterstrike. That is why he will never order a nuclear attack against the US. Against Ukraine or some other non-nuclear power, maybe. But definitely not against the US.
While the biggest threat to Georgia's sovereignty is Russia, a close runner-up is the corruption of its political elites.
Very true, and sounds familiar to Ukraine.
Russia can afford to be as corrupt as Georgia because it has more extractable resources from the ground than the US, Brazil and Saudi Arabia combined.
Again, true, and likely the best way to motivate Russia in the right direction is for the West to produce much more oil and gas and compete with Russia rather than threaten more cronyism.
I have no evidence at all in this regard, but I suspect all of the money went into defense boondoggles like the one where they built their own APC's. It is possible to shoehorn a vast amount of kickbacks (including non-existent billed hours for phantom employees plowed into R&D) into a domestic project. Just bribe the auditor. If there is an auditor. Much harder to do so via the acquisition of foreign equipment.
No leader of a nuclear state is going to initiate a first strike against another nuclear state with a counterstrike capability.
That is the generally accepted strategy and logic with which I agree.
Moreover, I assess Putin to be a Russian Nationalist that does love Russia and Russians, as authoritarian as he might be, so it's not him I worry about.
I assess Obama and most around him to not love America at all, and themselves above all.
They are true believers.
