The UN says the last chance to save planet Earth may be vacuuming CO2 out of the sky and burying it.
And, theyre serious.
UPI reported:
In order to stave off the worst of global warmings consequences, the worlds nations must find a way to reduce carbon emissions by 40 to 70 percent by 2050. Thats one of many claims made in the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
The new report also suggests vacuuming up vast amounts of CO2 from the skies and storing it underground may be the most viable solution for mitigating the greenhouse gas effect in the short term.
Its the third report on climate change released by the IPCC, a group of international climate scientists organized under the auspices of the United Nations. The groups second report, which was released last month, predicted serious environmental and economic catastrophe in the latter half of the 20th century, should calls to slow global warming continue to go unanswered.
This latest report, released on Sunday, weighs the efficacy and plausibility of a variety of climate change policy solutions and mitigation options.
Meanwhile
Detroit just had its snowiest winter on record.
Calling “Mega Maid” LOL
Sounds like something the CBC would propose.
Thank you!!! LOLOL
Damn! you beat me to it !!! :p
Someone should get to doing this. Right after the spaghetti harvest.
its called planting trees?
Truly amazing that this hoax still has legs....
You would think after 15 years of zero temperature increases seemingly intelligent people would at least have the common sense to stop making fools of themselves....
Time to fold the UN up and call it a day. The place is a tide pool of parasitic communist incompetents. Let them go meet in Brussels
Yes, man made trees to capture CO2 and, wait... Bury it in the ground.
/p>
The issue isn't cleaning up the environment, and never has been. The issue has been to find some pretext to shove a socialist dictatorship down our throats, when we've already rejected every other attempt at it.
So what happens if they pull the CO2 out, and they’re wrong? I’ve had botanists tell me that the current level of CO2, at ~400ppm, is low enough that it’s a significant limiting factor in plant fecundity. What arbitrary level are these so-called “scientists” saying the atmospheric concentration needs to be brought down to? What if it turns out their level is too low to sustain earth’s flora, and the biosphere starts dying?
Industrial vacuuming up of CO2 is a boondoggle for politicians like Al Gore.
Schemes to remove CO2 from the air really concern me.
All biomass (plants, animals, microorganisms) is made of carbon molecules, which are all made from CO2. There must be a certain minimal concentration of CO2 in the air, or plants become unable to extract it. When there is too little CO2 in the air for plants to extract, they die. When they die, they decompose, eventually becoming CO2.
What will happen with attempts to remove the CO2 from the air, is that plant growth will slow, then stop. Some species are probably more able to extract CO2 than others, so the less able species will die off first. With their decay returning CO2 to the air, the concentration of CO2 will not decrease significantly. By the time enough CO2 has been extracted to see a real drop, a significant amount of biomass will be gone.
Without plants to convert CO2 into usable forms, animals will also die off.
Life on earth cannot survive without CO2. Yet these idiots talk as if the only way to save the earth is to get rid of CO2? Dear God, save us from these idiots!
Or, we could plant more trees?
Not sure how the left misses this point; other than the idea that planting trees doesn’t really extend their control over the American people.
Why does the UN hate poor people across the globe?
Because removing a plant growth stimulant from the atmosphere is certain to cause a rise in food costs.
