I do exactly what every male in my MOS does. And I am paid on the same scale. So the argument presented here goes nowhere.
Equal work for equal pay. Different pay for different standards.
No you don’t. APFT standards are a just and true starting point.
Now, to be honest and fair, as a 52 YO male, I am not required to do the same “work” under those standards either. So, a 19-21 YO male should get paid more than a 52 YO male as well.
On the other hand, I am a post grad guy with tons of experience in my MOS (OCF 21- Field Grade officer) so my level of contribution would seem to be quite a bit greater than say a 21B combat engineer private E1 w/ a HS credential, wouldn’t you think? (Note: I am a retired broken down old guy, so it is purely academic at this point).
The problem with differentiation is that it is a slippery slope, with no brakes and no emergency ramps either.
"Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute.." "I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country, "Obama continued "I wasn't asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit..I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans."
The POS was talking about making military folk buy their own health insurance..
That should make EVERY service man and woman in our country hopping MAD...!
