My father got me a .22 for my birthday, and we shot it constantly in the back yard.
In Nassau County.
New York.
In 1962.
“...What changed to make kids start shooting? ...”
Liberalism and the stupid policies they push.
Not being allowed to fight back, for one thing. Feeling powerless, and victimized, knowing that they’ll get in as much trouble as the assh*le(s) doing the bullying...
Human beings can take only so much. And that will make some people snap. Bullying isn’t new; the difference is in the way it’s dealt with.
You can’t “force” people to get along; it has to be worked out between them.
Carrying a cased rifle should never be a big deal.
When I was a kid, I was Junior NRA, and went to an indoor shooting club (in Philly) that I took the bus to every Monday and Thursday night. It was underneath a catering hall. Some of the friends that I shot with carried cased .22 rifles on the bus, and we never had an issue with it.
This was around 1973 or so.
Bingo. Learned this from my dear mother. Put the bully and victim in a room ALONE and they find common ground. Bullies need an audience.
I did this with my son in HS. Invited the bully and his mother over after our kids were both suspended. She and I drank coffee while the boys went upstairs and played video games. Never had a problem with the bully and his gangster friends after that. Voila. Common sense.
“...Put the bully and victim in a room ALONE and they find common ground...”
haha! I hear you... but my experience, growing up in North Philly, was not to find common ground, but to find a chunk of wood and then beat the living bat snot out of the bully.
THEN you’d be friends... out of respect for the fact that yeah, you MIGHT be bigger, but I’m a sneaky little bastid who wait for you to pass by on the way home, and WILL jump out of the bushes and crack the living hell outta ya with a stickball bat.. hahah!
Although, yes, your method would probably work too!
:^)
Speaking like a true conservative jurist.
Many liberal office holders have criminal constituencies who demand that they engage in their depradations without risk. Hence the constant pandering on the matter.
You can’t quit. You’re the bulwark between civilization and the Communist barbarians in Connecticut.
|largest terrorist incident in the US all the way up to 9/11.
You have forgotten Oklahoma City?
My father-in-law grew up in the District of Columbia, and regularly told me stories about his childhood... which included taking the bus from Chevy Chase, DC to Maryland with a group of 10-12 year olds... all of them armed with loaded rifles, to go hunting in Maryland. Of course this was pre-WWII... go figure.
Once when I was in maybe 5th grade (seems like forever ago and I’m only 30) this kid was bothering me every day
I don’t remember exactly what I did but I got my point across in front of the entire class that I:
A)Would stand up for myself
B)Was possibly not entirely sane
I don’t remember him bothering me after that. ;)
School=Prison rules
My father recently told me a story about how he was a little s*itstarter. He told me how he eyeballed a gym teacher who liked little boys (all the kids would talk about him but do nothing) leading some kid into a secluded area and he confronted the bastard and got him to back off.
Good for you, Impy!
I had a similar situation, also in 5th grade; I beat the sh*t outta the little bastard - used his head for a speed bag.
You gotta what you gotta do.
